Made another song, this is in Reason 5. As usual I'm pretty clueless about mixing so detailed feedback on that would be great! Also I know the snare sucks
Awesome.
It sounds weird with the snare panned hard right like that. The chord sequence and melody were cool- I liked them quite a bit. Was it a conscious decision to distort the piano like that? I'm not sure I like it. Cool though :)
Yeah, the piano is distorted on purpose; I like it, gives it a heavier, fuller sound and you don't hear distorted piano like this in electronic music much.

This reminds me a lot of Pepin actually, possibly because of chords being used and progression. Really like the way you break the buildup at 1:22, it's abrupt without leaving you wondering what happened. I sort of expect the drums to kick it up a notch at 1:49, have the bass drum kick some more and possibly raise the volume of the snare. Something you've done well is the volume of the cymbal, it's low and while you can hear it it's not something you 'actively' hear, only in the background which I think really adds a lot. The melody that works itself up from 2:09 is sexy as hell, the tone is really nice (distorted piano right?), it really gels with the overall feel of the song and sounds almost alien, which I think is awesome. It's just now I start to realize that you have a bass in the song too, it could probably do good if you tried to make the tone stand out some more from the bass drum, since currently they seem to share the same frequency which makes them blend together too much. This is a really cool track that's mellow and ambient while still having that special factor that makes you still follow it all of the time unlike most ambient tracks that are just background-filler.
Thanks man, it means a lot :)
It's nice, but you panned the snare a bit heavily. It sounds okayish on speakers, but it gets a bit annoying on headphones. Panning snares is fine, but make it a bit more subtle. Oh and you really shouldnt pan bassy instruments at all(talking about the kick here), it's sort of a rule in mixing(not that there really are rules).
