Recently my house has had a large extension and I am getting one of the rooms as my new bedroom, which is great as I currently share a bedroom with my brother. As it is going to be completed within a week, I would like to think of how I am going to style this room. Since it is a blank slate to start from it would be nice to make it into a very classy/awesome pad, however I have next to no inspiration for making this room look great. Ideas regarding artwork, layout, colour scheme, furniture, style, etc would be great.
My decorating budget is £500 or lower.
Here is a plan of the room:

I will take a panorama later, but it is too dark to take a decent one right now.
Well what do you want it to look like? What do you like? You have to start from somewhere.
Well I'm hoping to have a fairly modern/bright look for the room, perhaps minimalistic even.
Do you already have a bed and things like that?
Nope, all furniture will be new.
Well then your best bet is to go with a strong yet simple color scheme. What are your favorite colors?
Probably green and/or blue. However I don't think those would work particularly well in a room.
I was considering getting the walls painted white or light grey, with a black desk and furniture.
If you want minimalism go to ikea and get a load of furniture with lots of clever storage places, because no matter how minimalist you want it to be, your room will always have stuff in it, stuff that needs to be put somewhere.
I go with white walls, if you like green and blue you could find some artwork in that color scheme and have an artwork theme throughout the room.
You need this

You've got a pretty thin budget, so don't get too starry-eyed. In order to stretch that budget to its fullest I would recommend buying all your furnishings from second-hand furniture stores. You can usually find like-new pieces for a big discount in those places.
Do 3 walls white and one accent color, then coordinate your furniture and decorations according to that theme.
How I did my room minus the accent wall. And since my lights are colored my room isn't white, it's blue, orange, and green.
So you can do white walls + green accent, then white furniture with green accents for sheets and things. then decorations can be minimal or modern with white and green as the theme.
Ok so the rooms finished now, just need to decorate it.
Wondering If I should print off all the album art of my favorite artists onto high quality card and tile them on one of the walls?

That would be pretty cool.
So should I paint the walls white or something else then?
I painted my walls two colors, like so.
