Alright, so I'm taking a girl to go see this tonight. It seems like a good movie for a date, but I've got a somewhat hidden agenda for picking this movie. I'm a huge Nightmare on Elm Street fan. My step-brother and I grew up watching these films. They played a very large role in my childhood, and are probably somewhat responsible for my currently fucked up state of mind. Anyways, I was wondering if any of you have seen it, and whether or not you think it did justice to the originals. I've read a few reviews, and apparently Haley doesn't come close to Robert Englund's performance. No surprise there. I'm sure Haley makes a good Krueger in his own way, but no-one could ever compare to Robert Englund. So, was it good? Is it an honorable remake?
i want to see it but when i was making plans to i remembered how bad Halloween and other remakes were. that and the bad reviews http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/nightmare_on_elm_street_2010/
Huh, didn't realise the remake had been released. Let us know if it's any good.
I'm pretty sure it came out today, and I probably won't pay to go see it because the trailer alone felt wrong.
According to the reviews it's horrible.
Wow, the Rotten Tomatoes reviews are all horrible
Really? I kind of wanted to see this. Not like it was going to be amazing, the originals weren't either, but it looked like a half decent revival. It isn't good, but it isn't bad. The second one is either a brilliant film, or a piece of shit. I can't understand it yet.
I just came back from watching it. It was horrible, no where close to as good as the originals. Wes Craven not writing or directing was bad enough.. but not having Robert Englund as Freddy just killed it.
I just saw it. It was fucking boring and predictable as all hell... Haley was the only good thing about it, he played a pretty good Krueger. Incredibly disappointed.

[sp]Nancy using the car lighter to burn her arm to keep herself awake was the basically the same idea from A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, when that chick used a cigarette to keep herself awake[/sp]
Use [sp] [/ sp] tags without the space
Ahahah thanks, I tried

but that didn't work so I just said fuck it.
I will not see this movie. The first one is gold and always will be. I was interested, I love Jackie Earl Haley, but I remember thinking "He seems too serious". Then I found out how they took away the character trait of Freddy having a sick humor. I loved that...
It's pg-13, gonna suck.
It's pg-13, gonna suck.
No, it's not. Just got back from it. I dunno, I really liked it, but not as a remake. I enjoyed the movie, but it did not feel like A Nightmare on Elm Street. Haley did a great job in the film, but he didn't make a very good Freddy Krueger. I don't know how to explain it. Even though it was predictable, it was still fun to watch. It stayed relatively true to the original, and I loved the way it recreated some of the more memorable scenes... but, again, it didn't feel like Freddy Krueger. Without Robert Englund, it never will. On a side note: Didn't they say they were cutting out the wisecracks? Every other sentence out of Freddy's mouth was a clever one-liner. I'm not complaining, I loved the shit out of it. "You know, when the heart stops, the brain stays alive for a whole seven minutes. We have six more minutes to play" "How's this for a wet dream?" "Your mouth says no, but your body screams yes" [editline]06:20AM[/editline] Robert Englund, without a doubt, was what made the original movies so goddamn good. There can never be another Freddy Krueger
Friday the 13th was terrible too, why must they insist on making shitty remakes of perfectly good films?

No Englund — No movie. This never existed. I mean, fuck, why take away the role he defined? Talk about kicking someone when they're down.

Pretty shitty movie, but it's shitty in an awesome way
The outside of the school and the pool scene was filmed at my high school right down the street from my house. I don't understand why they picked our shitty school.

You don't take a girl to a movie you want to watch!

I didn't mind them replacing Englund, really. It's a fucking remake, it would just be another ANES movie if it had Englund reprising his role. I enjoy Haley's performance as Krueger. Also, the Halloween remake was just nonstop FUCK YOU FUCK THIS FUCK THAT gore porn. The Friday the 13th remake was excellent though.
It's Elm Street for kiddies.
You don't take a girl to a movie you want to watch!
Nah, she wanted to see it too. She's just as twisted as I am  [editline]11:56PM[/editline]
It's a fucking remake, it would just be another ANES movie if it had Englund reprising his role. I saw it late on friday with a bunch of friends, almost fell asleep. Honestly, it was boring, predictible, and cliched. Not to mention Jackie Earl Haley sucks as Freddy Krueger. Fuck you, Michael Bay.
Incredibly predictable, however not a complete waste of money. You need to go into it not expecting a remake (even though some of the scenes are similar). I saw it as a movie different from the classics and I had fun watching it.
Being a huge fan of the original, I liked it. It was predictable, and the acting was mostly bad, but the original had terrible acting and was incredibly predictable too. I think Jackie did a pretty good job as Freddy, and it actually surprised me when [sp]the main characters ended up actually having been molested by Freddy.[/sp]
