Jill Stein, a Massachusetts resident and Harvard-educated doctor, was arrested along with four other Green Party members, the Associated Press reports, including her running mate, Cheri Honkala, a single mother who once ran for Philadelphia sheriff. The group of about 50 activists was trying to reach the government-backed lender’s downtown office through an adjacent bank. When they were denied entry, they staged a sit-in. Some of the activists were struggling to keep their homes. Two of them were allowed to meet with Fannie Mae officials.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0812/79307.html?hp=f3
Hope this doesn't damage her chances of getting elected!
Aw man and she had a real shot at getting elected, too! [editline]2nd August 2012[/editline] GOD DAMN IT, SMURFY
Aw man and she had a real shot at getting elected, too! [editline]2nd August 2012[/editline] GOD DAMN IT, SMURFY
Did you spend 10 minutes reading the op?
Did you spend 10 minutes reading the op?
I read the article, looked up Jill Stein and got a bit of base of knowledge before entering the thread, like I do with every news thread. And what do I get for actually looking up shit before I talk about it? FUCKIN CUT RIGHT THE FUCK OFF, THAT'S WHAT [editline]2nd August 2012[/editline] you son of a bitch
I haven't heard of her before today, but she's the kind of person we need running for our country.
hippie fuck, shouldve thought about her actions before she endangered the civil liberties of our glorious and prestigious banks mitt romney 2012
I haven't heard of her before today, but she's the kind of person we need running for our country.
too bad she doesn't have a chance there are a lot of good people who support her, but people with their finger in the big money pie see her as a threat so she'll never have the funding or exposure

I never heard of her before I entered this thread, and she's running for President? Shows how the media controls how much we know. v:v:v In fact I don't even remember a Green Party.

That's a lot of hope though [editline]3rd August 2012[/editline]
I never heard of her before I entered this thread, and she's running for President? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_political_parties_in_the_United_States Enjoy your media control
It's no surprise no one knows who she is, third parties get hardly any coverage and, "coincidentally", not very many votes.

Sounds like an awesome woman. It's a shame she doesn't stand much of a chance at actually getting any recognition on a broad scale. I haven't even heard of her until this article.
Did you spend 10 minutes reading the op?
Who the hell reads the OP??
Sadly, the majority of the people who would put their vote in a third party won't simply due to the idea of their vote being wasted and would rather vote on the two major candidates
If the US worked like any other democracy on the planet, I'd say third parties are welcome. Unfortunately, it's too much of a struggle between two fat, bloated, corrupt juggernauts right now. And while they're both bad, one taking power again effectively means the death of the United States. Want third parties to be viable? Snuff the GOP and create a vacuum.

And while they're both bad, one taking power again effectively means the death of the United States. Want third parties to be viable? Snuff the GOP and create a vacuum. If Romney gets elected this year due to third party voter leech, one of two things are going to happen. Either the country is going to implode, or someone is going to end up making a sacrifice to prevent it.
Rather than creating a vacuum in a two-party system in order to introduce a new party, why not push for change in electoral and ballot access laws that actually moves it towards a multi-party system?
too bad she doesn't have a chance there are a lot of good people who support her, but people with their finger in the big money pie see her as a threat so she'll never have the funding or exposure
Our voting system would disallow it anyway.
