Beijing (CNN) - Police are searching for the mother of a newborn baby girl found wedged face-down in a Beijing toilet on Sunday.
Residents heard cries from a public toilet block and notified police, according to the Beijing Times.
"Her head was upside down and her body was falling into the drain. We could only vaguely see her feet from the side," Qian Feng, the local police chief told the paper.
Qian said initially police decided to dismantle the toilet as the drain structure was unclear, but that would take too long.
Jesus fucking christ. No wonder it's a girl; if you guys are familiar with their "one child policy" and also watched the documentary "The Dying Rooms", unfortunately for her, it's no surprise.
Yes but one child policy is better than "multiply as you wish since we are going to hell because of the population"

Also stupid woman, why have baby in the first place fucking morons
Good to know baby saved and alive. Unfortunate this happening even in modern society.
It's scary how widespread sex selection and the abandonment of girls is in this world especially in Asia.

I wouldn't jump the gun and say that because it's a girl, it must've happened because XYZ. This is the type of thing you see every once in a while in the news coming from all over the world. To be honest until I saw "Beijing" in the title, I was expecting it to be a McDonald's restroom somewhere in rural America.

It's China, it happens all the time in China because of the one child policy and because girls are seen of lesser value than boys.

Kinda ironic because of the huge gender gap females are a lot more valuable there.

Yes, but every family wants their name and lineage to continue over there, so every family wants a boy for their one child. Nobody really realizing though and won't for at least another generation that this is completely unsustainable and will eventually result in a massive population decline or a massive cultural merge as there will no longer be enough asian girls to marry.

It's already a thing for below average people there. It's not that they need to find someone on their level, it's that there isn't anyone left to find so they turn to prostitutes and hugging services. It will be like Japan but due to a different reason. While the girls have the luxury of picking the best because demand is really high.

its hilarious because if the next generation is all male, how do you get more people?

Unless China decides to start growing "breeders", like some twisted parody of the axolotl tank, to bypass the need for women. Probably won't ever happen, since even China isn't that mechanically cold, but it would certainly be a chilling chain of events wherein many would say "no-one outside of the Chinese territories has ever reported seeing a Chinese female".
Still, I wonder if there are shady companies out in China that pay good money for baby Chinese girls? Could there be a black market for Chinese babies where they are bought by the highest bidder for dubious or unspeakable uses?

I doubt babies are very popular item in black market but young girls sure are. That's nothing new and is a thing everywhere where human trafficking is a thing.

Yeah I was thinking about human trafficking too, but with the mortality rate of baby girls in China, I imagine it would be trickier and potentially more costly to pull off. Not only would you need to set a good price to acquire the baby without it being too much skin off your arse, but in some cases you'd need someone to care for the infant until they are just old enough (but still young) to fit the tastes of prospective buyers in the dark corners of the Earth.
But I'm certain there's still a market for Chinese baby girls, like through adoption by Western mothers. Which also reminds me of that one article posted a few months back surrounding Chinese mothers who went on "birthing holidays" where they would give birth in Western nations like America and ensure the child's American nationality, which in turn ensured that the kid would have a better chance of getting into a good American university.

That's probably more likely than I'd like to believe, especially given there's a pretty lucractive slave trade within china that kidnaps women from the cities for rural families.

Welcome to ironman17
I'm actually surprised by how many girls my age there still are in China.
Also from what I've seen some people are willing to pay the fine or w/e needed to have a second child. I think I met some young siblings over there.

Global overpopulation is overblown. Though China has a population issue. I have a fundamental disagreement with a government telling me how many kids I can have, and the abandonment and abuse of girls is a direct result of China's policy because families want boys.
Equal treatment of men and women. Or population control. Pick one.
I think not many people in here knows, but the 1-child policy never applied to the majority of the Chinese population.
"Only" around 35-40% of the people in China are subjected to the 1-child policy, and in many cases you're allowed to have a 2nd child.
[editline]4th August 2015[/editline]
And since they're facing some demographic problems they're now talking about a 2-child policy.

Oh, that changes everything. Wasn't aware it wasn't fully enforced.

What a horrible horrible thing to say
dang, I thought the one-child thing was a myth.
dang, I thought the one-child thing was a myth.
Do people actually believe this is a myth? I mean it was an official world wide known government action when it was enacted.
It's only been touched on, but it's cultural values in China which dictate much of this, as well as the pressure of the 1 child policy. The same issue is seen in India where boys are seen as much more valuable to the family to the extent that the population has skewed similarly.
Im pretty sure the one child policy is only in effect is both the parents were not single children, I think now its if even 1 partner is a single child, they can have 2 children, so unless they had 2 daughters or something, I don't think its about it
