The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection act (CISPA) will be reintroduced before the US House next week following a spate of cyber espionage and hacking attacks. Civil liberties advocates have criticized the bill for violating privacy laws.
The House Intelligence Committee’s Chairman Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) and ranking member Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-Md.) will attempt to breathe new life into CISPA on Wednesday.

Fight for the Future, a non-profit group “working to extend the Internet’s power for good,” has already kicked off an online petition asking voters to call their representatives on the House Intelligence Committee and express their opposition to the bill.
Oh for fuck sake, not again. Didn't they learn the last time?
Not again. They're just going to keep on hammering at this issue, aren't they? Until someone is able to pass an act securing the internet.
Write to your congressman, although as I look up the http://intelligence.house.gov/ the vast majority are not intelligent at all.
Whatever I don't give a fuck anymore.

CISPA 2: Electric Boogaloo
Whether the politicians realize it or not, the internet is the beating arteries of information, utility, and seen as an overall essential tool in first world countries nowadays. Government intervention in this new, beating heart of information will result in a lot of backlash.
Watch as every supporting politician's house and stuff gets pillaged
Hello senator,
My name is Ryan XXXXXXX, A voting member of California whom voted for you last election. Okay, i'm going to cut right to the point.
As you may know CISPA is planned to be reintroduced within the house, and the bill would give control over the internet to the US federal government. You cannot let that happen. The internet is the last bastion of ingenuity of these days. Putting any control upon it, Bar tracking information will stunt the growth of this country and effect the lives of people like me, Whom use the internet for various activities to gain information from, or just to read about the affairs in the world. I say nay to CISPA, and i would vote for the senators whom oppose it.
When Syria, Lydia, and Egypt all went through those revolutions, i got to see what was happening, and how i could support those people who needed help so badly.
This brings up another point. Without the internet governments start the tyranny of the press, only state television would be able to be watched and understood, while the government would control it all, letting the masses be ignorant to the happenings around the country. I believe it is a violation of the constitution, and our rights as citizens of this great country. I'm letting you know, however, how much i care for it, and as an aspiring engineer, i would see the inefficiency within that area.
Once again, i will vote for the senators whom oppose that bill. It will inhibit growth, and most of the people at my colleges as well as most of my Colleagues agree to vote against the senator whom supports these measures.
Thanks for listening.

No, he's right. Effect is the "past tense" of affect
No, he's right. Effect is the "past tense" of affect
No, affected is the past tense of affect.
Affect is the verb. Effect is the noun. As in, "to affect something is to bring about an effect in something."
Well at least it's a re-introduction of a previous bill and not a new one with the exact same content under a different name. Still a terrible bill regardless and it needs to be shot down immediately.
No, he's right. Effect is the "past tense" of affect
Ugh really?
No wonder people get them confused constantly.
Im assuming this bill will be shot down, but it wont stop them from trying to pass this kind of crap every few months.
Why on Earth are they even still doing this? It's just going to fail again just like SOPA, PIPA, ACTA, DABA, NABA, BLINGBOBABA, DABADABABABA, all of that junk. Seriously, Congress. Just give it up.
I'm not even going to worry about this. When SOPA first came around I was terrified but now I'm just sick of it all.

Um, it's 'Libya'. Just saying.
When are they going to get the hint that they aren't going to succeed?
No one ever heard of the Utah Data Center? I'm sure this is probably part of the plan.
When are they going to get the hint that they aren't going to succeed?
Because if they can hide this from the general population well enough, excuse it as a means to DEFEND MURICA, and rush it fast enough for the opposition to not have a chance, they will succeed.

With a name like "Community Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative Data Center", it scares me too.
The funny thing is that it's the "National Cybersecurity Initiative Data Center", and it'll probably end up being one of the biggest cyber-security risks developed in the past 5 years.

oh shit, MJ12 up in this bitch.
REV UP THOSE PETITIONS
The head of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano warned in January that a "cyber 9/11", which could cripple critical infrastructure like water, electricity and gas, may happen "imminently".
Because WHO THE FUCK hooks up water plants and nuclear power stations to the fucking internet.. fucking hell. This is simply an excuse in order to force this shit bill all the way up the throat of the mass population again. Police state FTW.
CISPA 2: Attack of the Bought Out Legislators.
Because people dying everyday and people living on the streets is just not as important as controlling the internet!!!!

"Hey Joe, can ya check yer email on the water pump pressure screens?"
Jokes aside, should be for remote control, although its a seriously stupid idea only supported by the fact that nobody has yet to attack any of those through hacking.
Or at least that we know of...
But I can only agree with the fact that its just a bullshit excuse to get the bill back on the table, just like lots of people are using the sudden shootings as ways to ban violent video games and firearms and bla bla ba...

It's called the 900mhz packet spectrum.

A lot of the earlier stuff is hardly secured at all (in terms of both effort and quality) and it's expensive as heck to upgrade. A while back, there was some stink at an oil refinery near me, reported to be a result of this kind of stuff.
With a name like "Community Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative Data Center", it scares me too.
I'm betting bullshit.I'm betting bullshit. According to this the entire capacity of all hardrives every produced up to 2006 was 160 exabytes, or 0.00016 yottabytes. I find it hard to believe that even a single data center will have 6250 times that amoutn of data even these days.
