UPDATE 2: All seems to be back to normal. UPDATE 1: This is a major page caching glitch, not an attack. There is no official confirmation from Valve yet, so we can only speculate as to why this issue happened. Valve is known to use Akamai as their CDN and Varnish for caching. Our theory is that a caching misconfiguration in one of these components has caused Steam to incorrectly serve rendered and cached pages intended for a single user only. This issue means that users’ private information such as email address, billing address, and sometimes credit card details are at risk. As far as we know, this issue is read-only, and no one is able to perform any actions involving your account on your behalf.
Here's a full explanation of what happened: Original Post: I don't know what the hell is going on, I can't find any articles on this yet. Tried logging into steam, got sent to the chinese login page. Said fuck that, and went to steam support. Logged in there, and I got logged into someone else's account Some screenshots: [t]http://i.imgur.com/RPnXMvh.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Q9c3OHM.jpg[/t] I'll keep an eye out for more information and post as this develops. This happened to all friends who I've contacted, and there are posts about it on Reddit
...I'm sure everything's fine. Christ.
No, it's really not fine. I'm browsing the store right now, and I'm constantly getting logged into other peoples accounts, seeing their friends lists, cart contents, and etc. I can't seem to do anything, nor do I want to, but just clicking on a different game title sends me into a different persons account on the store page. Idk what the fuck is going on.
Store's language is changed even if you aren't signed in. Changing the language just gives you an error.
Steam has disabled the log in button, atleast on my end i cant press it.
1. went to the steam market 2. clicked "wallet balance" 3. whoops i'm now some other dude with $20 and his paypal info listed what the fuck https://steamcommunity.com/id/gjagjhakgkaf/ check his comments
It doesn't let me change my password, servers are fucked.
Well this sale went to shit pretty fast...
i was wondering why im getting a different currency and language every time i refresh the store page
I cant change shit because everything is so fucked up. Oh fuck, oh fuck, were all gonna be poor
And this is why I don't save any credit card info on the account.
I'm pretty sure if you have 2F you're okay, but something's definitely fucked up.
Merry Christmas then? What the fuck is going on?
Can't change passwords right now, fuck. edit: steam mobile is glitching out like shit, welp, shit.

What the christ
I cant even remove payment info. This is seriously fucked
Yep, steam servers are down, welp shit is fucked.
Im having all these problems right now and im trying to change my password and im pretty sure i had two step authen but it's not activated right now, notings going through and i keep getting errors, even tried to do it through the steam app and same results
I just got put into someones cart and I could actually choose to gift their purchases to one of their friends. Yeah, don't buy games right now guys.
Is the e-mail code a two step authentication process?
I think I appeared in someone else's account for two seconds on the store page but I'm back in mine when I visit community pages
Honestly I feel pretty safe. Any bank will work with you on a case of stolen cc info when shit like this happens. So what, take my card number, I can have it cancelled and a new card overnighted to me with all losses fully restored with practically no effort on my part, just a phone call and maybe an email. That's not the big deal here. The fact that their security has been blown wide open is the really alarming thing because there are much more valuable things on there than my steam wallet and cc info.
Just went to account details and it just jumped to someone else's account. I could see everything, Their email, phone number, pay info. I can see some else's wallet and seems like I could spend their money. What the fuck Steam
It looks like they've pretty much suspended all functions on Steam, can't change passwords or anything.
yeah this is real lmao this guy isnt me yet its saying i am him
Changing passwords won't be needed surely, this sounds like a server side fuck up and not a password compromise.

how the fuck do you even make a glitch like this
Of all the times for this to happen, too. I imagine tech support's gonna be having a rough time today, or at least Boxing Day.
