so ive had a pinched sciatic nerve for almost 10 months now, doc says he wants light surgery on it, but that wont be for a few more months, im looking to build a series of strength and stretch exercises
that's pretty serious. did you suffer an accident before, pulled or strained a muscle/ligament maybe? or is your life too sedentary and all you're doing is staying on your chair all day?
the pinched nerve could either be because of scar tissue building onto damaged fascias/ligaments, pressing on the nerve, or because you sit in a way that fatigues certain muscles in your pelvic area thus imbalancing and blahblahblahblah until you get a pinched nerve.
See a physio not a doc you dummy

For exercises I mean. Doc for surgery if you need it.

Actually see the physio first and then they might refer you to a surgeon if they believe you need surgery.
Obviously, first thing is to get it treated and healed.
Here are some good core exercises that will benefit the back. All you need is a yoga ball.
Yeah the vid is long but you can skim through it, or look for similar ones.

I would assume core workouts like the one mentioned above. Maybe do planks, side planks and supermans. Just make sure to suck in your core and whatever plan you do, make sure you get it approved by a physical therapist or any other certified person specialized in medical physiology. After the surgery you should continue doing workouts as well. I had chronic back pain due to a wrestling injury that worsened my scoliosis. After doing some core workouts my therapist recomended, I started to do Romainian deadlifts (started light weight) which I believe is one of the main reasons why I don't recieve a ton of back pain anymore. To be truthfully honest though, what you have sounds dangerous and really you shouldn't be asking us. I doubt anyone of us is a specialist in any medical field at all (hopefully me in the future) and with your condition, one small mistake could make matters worse so just be careful as if you didn't already know that.
