Deputy Mayor for Transport Isabel Dedring said discussions were at an early stage but "we would be keen for trials to happen". The battery-operated vehicles use a system of lasers, radar and cameras to detect objects around them in order to complete journeys. Google is understood to be focused on testing only in the US at present. The project, which began in 2009, has seen the vehicles clock up more than 1.4 million miles at test tracks in California and Texas.
Going to have to account for different road laws if they do. US'll be their main focus for now.
Hopefully these cars don't cut you up during turns.
Going to have to account for different road laws if they do. US'll be their main focus for now.
People in the EU drive very differently than the US. Every time I've had or heard people whose had american friends/family over they were fucking terrified :v: We don't really care much about laws over here. So it would be a good worst case scenario for them.
Hopefully these cars don't cut you up during turns.
self driving buses in london will initiate the extermination of cyclists in london entirely

From my experience we tend to follow traffic laws a lot more than what I have seen of mainland Europe.
There's nothing more terrifying than people overtaking you on both sides in the US.
Don't forget the fact that in many states you're not legally required to take classes to learn to drive safely so nobody in this fucking country knows how to drive.
From my experience people in Britain take their driving very seriously and act very aggressive, so if you drive on their roads you better know what you're doing. Here depending on what state your in people are just stupid/dumb/slow/reckless
There's nothing more terrifying than people overtaking you on both sides in the US.
Had trucks do that to me several times, they're not even allowed to overtake :v:
I've heard the exact opposite
Depends on where you drive. A lot of big american cities have terrible drivers.
I find it ironic that they basically forbid cab drivers from using GPS by making them learn every single street in London, then they go and invite a company to bring in actual GPS driven cars
I'm not sure this applies to Britain. But whenever I've been to the mainland, I've always felt like the drivers are nuts. In mainland Europe, red means 'oh go on just a few more cars fuck it'
There's nothing more terrifying than people overtaking you on both sides in the US.
I've lived in LA all my life, and once you get used to it it's really not that bad or dangerous. Just make sure you look through all your mirrors before committing to a turn and you'll be fine.
If taxi drivers protested against uber, I can't imagine them being happy about this
There's nothing more terrifying than people overtaking you on both sides in the US.
If drivers didn't plug up the passing lane(s) as they're legally required to do so in some states, we'd see far fewer people passing on the right. There are also stretches where trucks pretty much have to sit one lane over from the far right so as to allow for the massive volume of traffic that's getting shoved on to the roadway.
If taxi drivers protested against uber, I can't imagine them being happy about this
The Uber drivers will go on strike
You haven't seen god-awful drivers until you've been to the Mediterranean's shores. You need to drive like a total retard to avoid all the other retards trying to kill you on the road by driving on the wrong side, doing a 150 on a county road, freaking out at the sight of snowflakes, and driving on Friday. I'd really like to see how well they fare with traffic laws. Especially in countries where signal quality near borders might botch their behavior.
Had trucks do that to me several times, they're not even allowed to overtake :v:
I got so used to it in the Us I did it in Germany too when i was back
Driving in Danzig always is an adventure Laws are a matter of opinion there
I've heard the exact opposite
As far as I know, Americans tend to follow the laws more when driving in the city, whereas us Europeans try to bend the laws in ways of our own favour, like increasing speed at a yellow light.
The Uber drivers will go on strike
Isn't uber buying an unreal amount of driverless cars I'd imagine that they're going to go for full-auto as soon as they can because it just makes stuff easier if they don't have to worry about employees
There's nothing more terrifying than people overtaking you on both sides in the US.
Do they have the M25 in the US too then.
btw our motorways are 70mph limit with usual speed of 80. how's that 55mph taste.
I drove 3 weekends in south-west England, once 274 miles (440 km) in one day. All drivers are very chill and polite. I think I saw just one nut overtaking everybody over those 3 weeks. Compared to eastern Europe, Romania in my case, British drivers are angels. As far as I know from friends, western Europe has good drivers, or at least polite ones. I would gladly replace most of my country drivers with google cars at their stage today :v:
People praising British drivers? What the fuck is mainland Europe like then?

Check the fist throwing cunt below :goodjob:

So it would be a good worst case scenario for them.
I'm pretty sure it's not the thing about laws, just that European roads are much harder to drive on. American roads are all pre-planned, a grid system in all cities pretty much. And then they have big-ass highways everywhere. Meanwhile, European cities, since they're all old, are clusterfucks of small roads that intertwine in all kinds of ways. That makes driving more intimidating if you're not used to such roads.
There's nothing more terrifying than people overtaking you on both sides in the US.
If someone is passing you on your right, you're in the wrong lane and should be terrified, unless they are using an exit as a passing lane.
