Absolutely incredible work, though equally terrifying :v:
They honestly remind me of houndeyes
First they're opening doors, then soon they'll be able to click the "I'm not a robot" button.
it's almost like my dog now all it needs is the ability to shit on my laundry room floor like a fucking asshole [editline]12th February 2018[/editline]
First they're opening doors, then soon they'll be able to click the "I'm not a robot" button.
uhhhhh
uhhhhh
Iirc, a human was controlling that robot hand directly.

I am getting some serious chills reading this thread, as well as some possible premonitions involving fighting these fucking "cute" robots 15 years in the future...anyone else? :saddowns:
The only thing that's scary about this stuff is military use, police use, terrorist use etc. Armies of flying drones is the biggest foreseeable fear.
Absolutely incredible work, though equally terrifying :v:
If by "terrifying" you mean "adorable" then yeah.
I wonder if you could make these large scale to make all-terrain tanks.

so...how long before i can own one, and how much?

[editline]13th February 2018[/editline]
Its pretty much inevitable they'll be wielding machine guns within our lifetime.
I think they'd probably be used as pack mules more than offensive tools. They can balance themselves and move around so in a military situation they could be used for hauling shit. I can't see the tactical advantage of giving a gun to this thing.

Well, for those of us who embrace the evolution anyway. You flesh bound luddites are screwed.

They canceled the latter project because the gas engine was too noisy for a combat environment - that's why they've since switched to electric power.
I could see these being a good replacement for tracked EOD/police stand off robots

clever girl

Since we already mentioned drones and militarisation, I'm just gonna post this here forthose missed it last time.
Where's the wiggle eyes?
The noises the legs make remind me of the noise dogs make when they're panting, kinda makes these even more cute
I sincerely cannot see any advantages this thing would have as is in terms of combat situations over, say, a drone or a vehicle with a bunch of guns onboard.
Being able to enter buildings and kill specific targets rather than blowing up the entire block. They could also take the role as a strategic weapon. Drop 50 of these onto any unsuspecting target and you've just suppressed it or neutralised it without even the risk of a casualty on your side. Drop a million into a belligerent country and tell them to kill everything that moves, you've just caused some major, lasting disruption if nothing else, without harming any physical infrastructure and again, without committing a single soldier. Of course I'm talking more about the black mirror version, but it's only a matter of time before this technology reaches that level.
But, you could just use a drone and it'd be way more cost effective
agree.
life isn't a sci-fi
disagree... this is a bit subjective? from certain points of view it arguably is very sci-fi, my mang.
disagree... this is a bit subjective? from certain points of view it arguably is very sci-fi, my mang.
considering life is nonfiction, i think that at least rules out the “fi” part
