Well I decided it'd be interesting to introduce people to a few bands from the area (Northern Ireland, mainly Lisburn and Belfast) who seem set for good things, and I'd like to see what you can show me too, I've picked a few here and may update occaisionally, there's a mish-mash of styles here so I'm sure you'll find something agreeable.
mojoFURY
Just a group of guys who live relatively near, throw good parties and make very good music. They're gigging in the mainland at the minute so check 'em out if you're near, their album "Visiting Hours of the Travelling Circus" is due out next year and they've got a bunch of stuff on iTunes, including the Mann. They're also seemingly replicating the Mars Volta's success method i.e. drummer changing, often.

The Mann

Unfortunately the track "Lemon Marine" isn't up on youtube, but you can download by clicking that, then posting on facebook about it, believe me, it's got a pretty awesome riff at the end and trumpet action.
LaFaro
Another group of guys from Belfast who like big riffs, definitely a spectacle to see Jonny Black's vocal warmup (smoke, buckfast and screaming). Their album is out and available on iTunes.
Tuppenny Nudger (or "that track with that fill")

RAMS' Pocket Radio
Basically the musical project of a friend, he's doing pretty damned well at the minute with support slots etc so give it a listen, no music videos, but live is best I guess.
Dieter Rams has got the pocket radios and Yeah Yeah.

I'll update this I guess...maybe.
This is the only local artist I know of that isn't me. Know him personally.

Nobody around here really knows I make music, so I can't include myself.
Well this is a folk musician.

What do you guys think?
Hey kids, you know what time it is? It's time for me to copy/paste from the last local artists thread!

I'm a local patriot of sorts, and I'm always wanting to support local bands by listening to them/telling other people about them. So, I'm going to post about some artists from where I live:
Paul Cusick was the guitarist from the band Big Big Train who recently stepped out from behind his guitar and recorded a solo progressive rock album, called Focal Point:

Described as a cross between Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree with a little Nine Inch Nails thrown in for good measure, the album is a pretty sweet journey through the life of Cusick (with his family providing backing vocals). He plays every instrument on his album apart from drums. I recommend it to all Prog fans.

Elliot Minor are a symphonic pop-punk band formed in 2005. Their two albums ("Elliot Minor" and "Solaris") are very musically interesting, utilising various classical instruments. Favourites of mine are "Parallel Worlds" and "The White One Is Evil", both from their first album.

Last week the keyboardist Ali announced he is leaving the band after they've played the last few dates on their tour. Which is a shame because he had a good sense of humour. :smith:

Sewing Operation are a three-piece alternative rock band who recently achieved success in local battle-of-the-bands competitions and will soon be supporting "Hot Fudge" at their album launch gig.

I be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the singer, but I don't mind the sound of the guitar.
-----
Amorr is a solo acoustic guitarist and singer. In all honesty, this is about as independent as you can get: Demo tracks, no gigs or anything.

I happen to know this girl and I can tell you now her singing voice is nothing like her speaking voice. And, although this isn't usually the stuff I would listen to, the songs she's made have quite a relaxing sound. 5 songs can be downloaded off the Last.FM page, so give them a listen.

Well, I've done my bit for my local music scene, so why not post a bit about little-known bands from your area?
And when the artists you post about become international superstars, you can refer back to this thread and say "I knew them before they were big :smug:"
Also Teen Zu:
A five piece from York just waiting to hit you with some no bullshit metal.
With all this emo, hip hop and whatever out there we decided to do something different, take things back to basics and that's what you hear.
In 2009 we released are first E.P "Violence and Daisies" a four track which aims to bring a little bit of Teen Zu to your homes and Ipods, we give this out at gigs for free so make sure you pick one up.
We're up and gigging in the York area so get down to a show.
With every gig a high energy show we're not to be missed we're just something different to what's out there at the moment!
We've been lucky enough to share the stage with the likes of:
Cancer Bats, The Computers, Kill Casino, RSJ, With One Last Breath, TheFALLEN and many more.
Feel free to drop us a comment we'll always try to get back to you.
No it's not metalcore, it's sort of like Iron Maiden/Diamond Head
