Don't really agree with his critique on the guns.
Sure you are never forced to use any particular gun but its pretty obvious that most of them have some monsters they excel at killing for example the stun bombs on the plasma rifle are extremely handy versus the shielded units.
Personally I dont agree with his comments on the guns either, but I would like to have seen a few more enemy types that forced me to use different types of guns, hell, maybe some new demons all together?
The Shielded soldiers forced me to stop using my default super shotgun in order for something with splash damage I could fire behind them and I liked it, it was a challenge having to deal with them when they spawned in.
All said tho in videos of this nature, this game was a blast, I'd strongly reccomend it to anyone on the fence, I loved it.
Rewatching the video he doesn't really use his weapon mods very often and has a tendency to pick the least interesting weapon mods (in my opinion anyway).
No wonder he wasn't very impressed by the guns as he wasn't properly using them.
