In an interview with NBC San Diego, the composer revealed that he's been hired to provide the score for the upcoming Superman movie that will be directed by Zack Snyder. Chech out what he had to say about reinventing a new iconic sound for the reboot.
"It’s a hard one, but I followed one of the most iconic things on Batman with Chris as well, and it’s the same thing. You are allowed to reinvent, but you have to try to be as good or at least as iconic and it has to resonate and it has to become a part of the zeitgeist. That’s the job. On Gladiator I remember people always talking about Spartacus and I kept telling them, ‘When you saw Spartacus and how it affected it you, that’s how I want a modern audience to be affected by what we do now.’ So I think ultimately you’re supposed to reinvent."

FUCKYEEEEEEAAAAAAAH hans zimmer is the best
Isn't he the guy who did the music for Inception?
Yes.
Yeah Zimmer! :D

Fuck, Hans Zimmer should do the score for everything
Its gonna be hard to top John Williams but im sure Zimmer is up to the challenge.
Its gonna be hard to top John Williams but im sure Zimmer is up to the challenge.
Have you heard his music before? He is definitely on par with Williams at the very least.
Have you heard his music before? He is definitely on par with Williams at the very least.
I don't know, John Williams made the most catchy and legendary themes in all of movies. Zimmer certainly makes epic pieces but nothing really catchy.
Zimmer also did the music for Modern Warfare 2. Which was amazing.
Zimmer also did the music for Modern Warfare 2. Which was amazing.
Halo music > Call of Duty music.
Fuck yeah.
Zimmer did All the Pirates of the Caribbean, Inception, Gladiators, Black Hawk Down, The Last Samurai, Da Vinci Code, and more. Everyone knows the movies Williams did, Jaws, Indiana, Star Wars, etc, etc. They're both great composers. Seeing that Williams is 78 years old, I'm looking forward to Zimmer as his successor.
Halo music > Call of Duty music.
Yes, it is, but you have to admit, The Enemy of My Enemy is amazing. For those who are unenlightened: I really recommend listening to it all the way.
It's foghorn time :D
Halo music > Call of Duty music.
Marty O'Donnell did a fucking stunning job at composing the music through the Halo series. I've noticed that a lot of music, like Zimmer's, captures the feeling of a specific moment (like at the very end of The Da Vinci Code when 'Chevaliers de Sangreal' plays), but somehow Marty managed to make music that felt like it was aeons old. It actually felt... ancient.
I still remember putting Halo into the xbox for the first time and boy how that song was awesome.
Not to burst anyones bubble, but if Hans Zimmer got to do a Halo soundtrack it would kick so many asses it would have to move to another planet. Just to kick more asses.

Am I the only one who thinks all his scores sound the same?
Am I the only one who thinks all his scores sound the same?
No, but Id call that more of his style.
Am I the only one who thinks all his scores sound the same?
I think he just happens to get landed with similar-toned movies. A lot of the tracks from Inception, especially, differ fantastically from his tracks on other things like Sherlock Holmes or Pirates Also, listen to some John Williams if you're not satisfied with that and tell me it doesn't sound similar. It just works, the style and pacing and instruments used can all be combined together to create totally different moods. Some people just favor certain instruments or styles over others.
I wish one day that both John williams and Hans Zimmer can compose a soundtrack together.
I still remember putting Halo into the xbox for the first time and boy how that song was awesome.
The start of that song makes me fucking shiver. It actually feels... ancient, immense, unknowable. Perfect piece of music to play over the reborn Halo.

Oh, and The Rock.
Zimmer also did the music for Modern Warfare 2. Which was amazing.
Actually, he did only the title theme. Lorne Balfe (part of his team) was the actual composer.
I really dont see the hate behind halo, the music since the first game has been great. Albeit the community sucks but who gives a shit?
Hans Zimmer has gone downhill lately. He used to write incredible scores (Pirates of the Carribean had an awesome theme[is this Zimmer?], there's some good stuff in Black Hawk Down, The Rock had a cool theme, The Last Samurai soundtrack is amazing) but so much of his recent stuff is so generic and crap. Far too much percussion and not enough melody (I'm looking at the Batman films Inception here mostly... brwwaaaarrrrm! bwrraaaaarrrrrmmmm!). http://inception.davepedu.com/
