Well, here it is. My first finished (well, listenable) track in a long time. I'm experimenting with my favorite genre, glitch; this is mainly a testbed for me to figure out how to make various effects. What do you think? And I'm curious what genre this song is - I'd like to find some stuff like it.
If I see one more person asking what genre their song is, I'm quitting life.
Instrumental hip hop.

Sorry, I've been looking through last.fm myself trying to find something like it. It seems like electro-industrial but it's missing the characteristic heavy industrial beats. I wanted someone to help me pin it down since I'm not up on all the different micro genres and lots of you all are. I'm sorry my curiosity and inferior knowledge of electronic music upset you. I'll try to be better in the future :)

My point was that it doesn't matter.
Make what you like. If you don't know the genre of your song, that's good, assume you've created one.
But as a sidenote, this reminds me of Death grips - Exmilitary; It's a free mxitape, its amazing, get it.

You need to try to not demonise people and assume things in your arguments btw, it makes you seem aggressive. And don't put smileys at the end like that, it makes you seem passive aggressive. And don't be a condescending asshole, like me right now

Just some internet tips

I don't want to know so I can label myself - genres denote similarities between groups of music and I like to hear what other likeminded musicians are playing to see what inspiration I can get. Art is a combination of derivation and originality to me - it's hard to play something if you've never conceived of the sound you'll need to play it. One of my former professors, a fairly prolific author, always used to say that writers are like scavengers, and I think that's true of most art. After all, genres exist - people like a sound and it alters their view of what music should be. Somebody painted a portrait so realistic it looked like a photograph, and covetous artists said, "hey, I can do that."
I didn't mean to come of as any sort of aggressive. It irritated me to have someone respond to a simple question in the way you did, yes - it seemed like I irritated you, too. I meant what I said. I realize that around here it's more likely to hear "fuck off" than an apology, but stupid me prefers the latter. :v:
And thanks for the recommendation! Listening now.
