• My names Mason and I produce instrumental hiphop

I just decided to put up a youtube account to try and get some more exposure. I produce a little bit of everything (electro, hiphop, progressive house, dubstep, acoustic, etc.) but have decided to stick to instrumental hiphop for a bit. I would love for some feedback, anything - although constructive would be prefered haha. http://www.youtube.com/masonentrican
Sounds quite midi. If you want a realistic sound, try to alter velocity levels semi heavily, use group reverb, and not too much, alter timings to be very slightly late or early so it isn't all on the grid. In hip hop bass and drums are the most important things, you really need to get better drum sounds. A lot of them sound weird, especially your snares are really lame. Basswise, you need a better sub, and a better 100hz area. Most of your composition is decent, but it isn't repetitive enough(heh). You need to repeat your stuff, but you need to change it slightly sometimes so it doesn't get annoying. Or make short songs so they can change all the time.
Those are the happiest drums I've ever heard. Pretty much everything Croix said, I'd also say; Generic sounds, changes occur a bit too often, drums need new sounds and good EQ'ing.
i thought that reformation was actually really cool, and with a bit of EQ work and mastering could easily be something you'd hear in the boiler room or the likes its clear that you're new to this so there are naturally going to be loads of problems in your mixdowns here and there so keep the imagination, but try to sort out some new samples maybe, train your ear over time for a better mixdown and keep going!
Yeah dude reformation is pretty cool, the high pitched sound gets a liiiiitle annoying but its chill
i also make hip hop instrumentals, and i really like your work man but i agree with the ones aboves
