I think some of the notes were too high so it had to drop an octave on certain oones

Yes. It's built into the software. I can disable it but the note filter is there because floppies can only play about two octaves before sounding like utter trash. I wish I could disable it for the hard drives as they can go as high or as low as anything but it's an all or nothing thing.
