• Jamming?

I've got a Jamming session planed today, but it's the first one any of us have done, any tips, and how to do it. also we don't have a drummer, so is there any sites that have metronomes on it?
As in, you and a couple of friends are gonna Jam a bit? Or are you all part of a band, minus the drummer?
Respect each other, don't play some random stuff when some is trying to talk. Make this clear! Otherwise you will spend 2/3rds of the time just playing your own game. I cannot stress how important this is. Don't play your fucking instrument unless you're supposed to! Bring a bb gun or something and shoot the asshole who can't keep his fingers to himself. Also, try to agree on a few songs, 2 or 3, that everyone should learn for the next session. If not you will just sit there "do you know that one? You do? Oh, but not you? Ok.. hmmmm...." = lots and lots of deadtime where you do nothing but grow tired of it all. And finally.. if you are playing a song and you get to a part which is unclear or just very sloppy, then stop immediately and work it out. It's fun to just ignore it and continue playing, but if you do that you will 1: Won't learn to play properly, and 2: Grow tired and bored of the song in question. Happy playing!
Have one person start and then build on that. Don't all start playing different stuff at the same time.
Designate a person to lay down a rhythmic section on guitar and then you work off it with an improvised lead. And if you have a bass player then have them figure out something to go along with the rhythm. Switch these roles around as you find necessary.
