A fraudulent version of the Game Boy Classic Pokemon Yellow has somehow made it through Apple's approval gauntlet and wound up on the App Store. Published by "Home of Anime" with Daniel Burford listed as the author, the "game" runs for $0.99 and has a one-and-a-half star rating after 1,352 reviews. According to said reviews, the app crashes after the title screen and cannot actually be played.

As if the simple existence of a Pokemon game on the App Store weren't enough of a red flag, the listing's screenshots aren't even from Pokemon Yellow, they're actually from Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green. The app's description also contains unattributed "press quotes" and a statement that "all trademarks and copyrights are owned by their respective owners," because everyone knows that admitting your copyright infringement absolves you of all responsibility, right? We've reached out to Apple for comment.
I would prefer the translated Vietnamese Crystal version.
I saw this on the Top 25 on the app store, despite the fact that it had 1 1/2 starts. :v:
The funny thing is that this got Apple approved.

It holds the top 3rd spot at the moment.
This proves that Apple has absolutely zero submission inspection.
Seriously, look on the page. The guy also posted Yugioh and Digimon fakes.

I bet those Apps crash on the title screen too.

You can speed it up if you want.
I saw this app the other day.
To be in the #3 spot, this scam artist is probably rolling in dough from all the idiots who bought it.

"You just purchased my trapp!"
Just had to get that joke out of the way, no matter how lame it may be.
i was about to go buy this until i realised that by fake it meant it didn't work. I was hoping it just a rom version thing
To good to be true, been waiting for a iOS pokemon game for ages.... /sigh
Good thing I saw the reviews / this thread beforehand
I can't get over how stupid people can be. If you aren't going to take a few seconds to read the description and reviews at all, then you have no right to complain that the app isn't what you thought it was.

Do you honestly think Game Freak would be stupid enough to even consider putting one of Nintendo's major IP's on a competitor's hardware?

I assume you never heard of Pokémon Say Tap? then.
You could just, you know, download a free emulator.
-bad joke
Hoaxamon
Reminds me of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game that's abso-fucking-lutely unrelated to TMNT and ripped its only level from Contra.
Pokemon Red > Pokemon Blue and Yellow
This made me realize how easy it is to get money out of the app store
Like literally you could make an app that's like 100 bucks and all it does is tell you you're rich and people would probably buy it with their parent's cards
What is more interesting is the amount of retards who are still buying the thing even though it's 1 and a half stars and the reviews are all "crashes on startup"
The best part is all the 2+ star reviews that say things like "App could be good but it keeps crashing! Please fix in next patch."

I had a friend's cosine long time ago who literally bought everything in the app store including the "I'm rich" app with his parent's credit card.
