I love facepunch, but it seems like it's fading away. First the "log out" and "Search" buttons are gone. Then ads started appearing, now you can't put in your the url "facepunch.com" you have to put "www.facepunch.com". Does anyone know what these changes are happening?
The "log out" button was gone for as long as I can remember.
Also search is still around, it's just hidden.

also ads are only at the bottom of the page so no one really cares.
I don't think Garry ever said why the www. doesn't work anymore, he had a go at someone over twitter because of it though, heh.
As of the logout button: I read somewhere its so that people who get banned can't just logout then view the forums, which is a pretty shit idea if you ask me because clearing cookies or going into a private mode or even just using another browser does the same thing. It just makes it harder to logout when you use a public computer.
Search I think its because the server is overloaded already, at least thats what I remember the reason being anyway
I spent 5 minutes trying to find the logout button and then I just dgaf'd and cleared my cache.

There've been other strange changes about too, such as icons and shit either disappearing or changing completely. For example, the Movies tag for threads appears to have turned into a hardhat, and a few days ago the Informative rating icon turned into the Insert Link icon. Not to mention some of the emotes have turned into other things as well...

I knew the search was still there, and ads will sometimes pop-up full screen, you just have to click the skip ad button. But why there are ads.... the world will never know.... until garry hops into this thread and posts the true reason to the changes.

search function i can understand but they need a fast slave drive or something maybe the community of facepunch should donate for a slave drive hahaha

I remember back in 2005 and the userbase was more serious than this.
GD is a bit more funny now, laid back.. perfect for some fun. Although I did notice a surplus in crap threads, parody threads, and general bullshit.
Also, i remember when each thread would have better grammar and puncuation. but those days are long gone my friend, long go.
so get used to typing without pressing your shift key too often and fuck the period comma and all the other puncuation keys

i have never seen more than a google ad on facepunch.
