Stahl doesn't seem too happy. EDIT: CBS Mirror
6 minutes in, refreshing to see Trump talk like a sensible person :v:
I don't get why more people don't realize that his extreme positions are simply the opening bid in a negotiation. That is what he is all about, its in his book.
i think it's pretty cool he isn't accepting the president's salary.
Aliens abducted Trump and returned someone new. Also, if you are interested in his opinion on gay marriage jump to 34:25; in short "my opinion doesn't matter, supreme court made its decision, I'm fine with that".

Throughout his entire campaign he's never been against Gay Marrige or anything like that.
Honestly Trump is starting to win me over a bit. If he acts like this for his entire Presidency I'll be pleasantly surprised.
Yah, nothing surprising in this interview, but I am happy people are starting to see him for him, and not just what the media regurgitated.
Its almost like Donald Trump isn't the super hitler the media has built him up. Also trump has supported that since his idea falls under his law of the land idea.
I am very happy Trump reigned himself in. He doesn't have to fight or defend himself to win the election anymore, he is focusing his responses on soothing the energy leftover from the two campaigns. I never thought I'd hear Trump call Obama very smart. He's dropped the bravado he's carried over the course of the campaign and it feels like a completely new timeline.

I don't think he really gives a shit about what Pence's personal views are.
i think it's pretty cool he isn't accepting the president's salary.
Just got to that, I wanna know why he's required by law to take a salary on that. Has any president (elect) ever declined the salary before?
He might be talking himself down now that he's won, but fuck look at the people he's surrounding himself with.
I don't think he cares. His attitude that is that its settled and there's nothing to do about it. I don't think he really gives a shit about what Pence's personal views are.
Yeah, but Pence and the politicians who agree with him are now in charge regardless. Trump might not care either way, but nobody from their camp is going to step up and champion for gay rights, and fight against their voterbase. They'll be indifferent at best, which means conversion camps spread on their own with nothing really stopping them. More camps = more people that get sent there, thus the logic that a Trump presidency is bad for gay rights.

I say it's a little too early to even presume, and kinda feels hyperbolic to begin with.

It can't be both.
I don't think he cares. His attitude that is that its settled and there's nothing to do about it. I don't think he really gives a shit about what Pence's personal views are.
I get the impression that he genuinely believes marriage is between a man and a woman, but it's hard to say if he will bother pursuing cracking down on it as he promised. [editline]13th November 2016[/editline]
He might be talking himself down now that he's won, but fuck look at the people he's surrounding himself with.
This is also important to note. Even if Trump walks back his more audacious campaign promises, he is currently surrounded himself by corrupt neocons and special interests.
He might be talking himself down now that he's won, but fuck look at the people he's surrounding himself with.
He realizes its a problem, but right now there's no other choice but to use the establishment. He says "the establishment" will eventually be phased out, but if he still uses the same people living in Washington their entire lives after 4 years [del]I will be[/del] at least 60 million Americans will be livid with him.
Just got to that, I wanna know why he's required by law to take a salary on that. Has any president (elect) ever declined the salary before?
John F Kennedy donated his salary to charity.

You stake that position but you never actually believe in it.
The assumption there is that this presidency will cause conversion camps to flourish. I say it's a little too early to even presume, and kinda feels hyperbolic to begin with.
What was stopping them before? We don't have any federal legislation against conversion therapy. Trump's presidency wouldn't need to voice support for camps for them to rise, only be indifferent where Obama and other progressives in office fought against it - IE, on every part. They flourish on their own, we've just been stomping them out for the last 8 years.

You stake that position but you never actually believe in it.
I'm not saying your wrong (in fact, I think you and BILLYMAYS are correct), I'm saying two groups of people who support Trump are reaching two different conclusions that can't both exist at the same time. You can't at the same time praise Trump for pivoting moderate and also lambast the media (and imply that everyone who dislikes Trump's stances are brainwashed sheep) for not reporting on Trump accurately.
These posts are contrary to these posts.
Both are true, much like how he speaks his mind, but he just say what he needs to get votes. You're probably used to non-quantum presidents who can't be two things at once.
Both are true, much like how he speaks his mind, but he just say what he needs to get votes. You're probably used to non-quantum presidents who can't be two things at once.
We're going to Make America Great Again! But first, we need to talk about parallel universes.
Both are true, much like how he speaks his mind, but he just say what he needs to get votes. You're probably used to non-quantum presidents who can't be two things at once.
Atheist Muslim Obama could do both at once :v:

He has always held the views he has now. He is pushing for things he doesn't actually believe in as a negotiation tactic.
No, I'm arguing that he isn't "pivoting moderate". He has always held the views he has now. They are accurately portraying his positions and not trying to portray him as anything more or less than what he himself wants to portray.
To tell you the truth, it feels so surreal that this is the first time we've seen Trump since his victory speech, especially for me. Trump has had at least 5 threads about him daily in SH for the last year, and I've watched his rallies on a near daily basis. The Secret Service has him locked up now that he's won, and he doesn't have to be out all the time fighting. Trump finally has a break from the spotlight as he transitions and America doesn't have to see anti-Trump stuff over the media for at least two months. I'm excited to see what lies ahead, especially after seeing him calm down in this interview.
Any mirrors? It's down now
