I think IHE concentrated too heavily on it being a YouTube video, since the rise of Gummibär is only partially thanks to its viral status online. Back when this shit came out, it was fucking everywhere in Europe, or at least, that's how it seemed from the fact that it was always advertised on German TV alongside Crazy Frog and Schnuffel, mainly for ringtones. I know I first found out about this shit on TV.

There was an actual band that made this, that first got popular in Europe and then became a meme online. One that I'm sure is still producing songs with that bear. In fact, I just checked - [URL="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFbfM6LZh2I"]last album 2 years ago[/URL]!
