Think I might as well make a new thread for it.
This is a Shattering plugin for Maya.
Utilized C++ API and mel script.
Alpha 1.0
----------
Features:
- Uniform Voronoi Shatter
- Fast (As far as I know, it's like 100x faster than the existing ones on Max, while there is none on Maya)

If you would like an alpha release for a specific version of Maya, please let me know.
Bug report/alpha testing is welcome!
Where's the obligatory teapot video?
Don't have time to render teapots yet.
I just made some quick screenshots:

Added the xray images of different types of shattering to the opening post.
That's incredibly cool. Maya is fun.

Glass shatter
Does it apply the Voronoi shattering at impact-time, or does that have to be done before simulation?
Awesome.
Do you release the source code too?
Very cool!
This looks amazing
Does it apply the Voronoi shattering at impact-time, or does that have to be done before simulation?
Will add NPxNode to do simulation based shattering :]
It only takes a fraction of second to shatter 1000 pieces.
So, yes, the user can decide when to shatter.
[editline]13th April 2011[/editline]
Awesome.

No, not the source code :(
Only 2011 and only 64bit?
My shitbook still uses 32bit.
I'll compile other versions :]
[editline]13th April 2011[/editline]
Which version are you using? to be exact?
[editline]13th April 2011[/editline]
I'll compile them after I fix my undo.
undo will crash the program for some reason >.>
I think I just broke something.
I use 2011, but 32 bit
Ah, I don't have the library to compile 32 bit >.>
Got like 300 errors LOL
I'll use my lab machine tomorrow to compile.
Fuck me, that's some good effect.
Hope you can get it compiled on 32bit, I'd love to play around with it.
What's the chunk limit?
Implemented volume shatter:

What it does:
You choose a mesh as input and it will shatter around the mesh.
[editline]13th April 2011[/editline]
What's the chunk limit?
I set it to 10000, but I can increase it if you really needs something that will take forever.
This plugin looks really nice, good job. Fuck rayfire, this is where it's at.
I need this in Blender.
We only have a messy fracture script.

(everything is prefractured.)
How it works.
Code it in Python!
*optimistic face*
Blender LOL
Blender LOL
I don't know why people even bother with Blender, it's horrible.
I'd suggest you move onto Maya or Max if you every plan to get into the industry. :/
blender is more for hobbyists

I still prefer C++ as well, pointer = speed.

Hardware: 3GHz single thread.
Since all of them share the same performance, I just plotted one chart:

It's O(n), n being the pieces you want to get at the end.
Basically,
@3GHz, you get n / 400 seconds to shatter.
Is there anyway to get educational licenses for Maya without any bullshit? I know people can get free copies of Maya, and I really want one legally :(
First one to get me on will be a bro for life!

This plugin looks like it is epic fun.

Register with an uni/school email. Get edu license
Hard when you have just left a UK college :D
Can't you get multiple copies on a edu license? If so, if someone could get one, I would be eternally grateful and post some uber uber high res, high particle count tests of this plugin and realflow.

Need a different mail for each license.
Awww that sucks :( I really want it! I have a couple of really high count sims to render, and Maya seems great for it!
Do you know if this supports Maya 2012?
