• Let's make a Christmas Album!

Hi everyone. I came up with the idea for a Christmas album just a few days ago, and I think that this could turn out great. I think that it would be really interesting to have Facepunch cover a bunch of Christmas/ Holiday songs. Since we are doing covers, this project should be easily be released by the 20th. Q & A

Can I make an original song? Yes, but it must be Christmassy. Can I submit more than one track? For sure! We need lots of content. I want to make a Dubstep cover of Frosty the Snowman. Can I do this? Yes. I have a feeling it will be fantastic, you can do any sort of innovative cover you want. When is the submission deadline? On the 18th. Two weeks from now. Can I make a song about the holiday that I celebrate? It's not Christmas. Yes. Where will this be hosted when it is released? Bandcamp Where will all the proceeds go? All the proceeds will be either donated to charity, or be used to let everyone download more things. When I submit, how should I do it? Send me a PM with the name of the track, information about it (who is this covering? What inspired you? Why did you pick this?), and a link to the file hosted somewhere on the internet. Make sure you submit in WAV, MP3s can be a pain. I want to work on cover art! Post it on the thread so we can C&C. I want to do a certain song, but I'm afraid someone will do it before me! Post the song you want to do on the thread, and make sure no one has already called it! If anyone has any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!
HELL YES
TIME TO USE SHITLOADS OF BELLS AND STUFF.
Awesome. I know there's limited time but fuck yeah is this gonna be good :)
I'm doing a Christmas in Hollis cover someone produce a backing track for me [editline]4th December 2011[/editline] jk I'll get a karaoke track online and layer guitar over it
Awesome! This is gonna be great!
Count me in!
Sleighbells and tubular bells everywhere.
If you guys want to call songs, you can do that. I'm calling Lennon's "Happy Xmas (War is Over)"
Dammit I was going to do that. :(
I'll do a duet with someone!
This site has a bunch of Christmas song MIDIs: http://www.the-north-pole.com/carols/ I'm sure that'll help a lot of people.
OH GOD YES
Im thinking Im gonna do a punk song for this. Can't decide on a song though.
I already started working on a DnB version of Nutcracker. (Dance of the sugar plum fairies)
Im thinking Im gonna do a punk song for this. Can't decide on a song though.
punk versions of blue christmas are good (see: the pretenders)
Had some fun with those MIDIs. lol
-forget it I'm out of idea's and I can't remix for shit-
I've done mine. :smug: [editline]5th December 2011[/editline] and it has vocals on it. [editline]5th December 2011[/editline] I'm calling Jingle Bells by the way.
Does this count? It has sleigh bells at 1:09 onwards it's dubstep, but who gives a shit.
Does this count? It has sleigh bells at 1:09 onwards it's dubstep, but who gives a shit.
How is that christmassy in any way.

We do give a shit, actually. That said, any suggestions on christmas melodies that are somewhat rap-able?

Would a piano cover of most wonderful time of the year be able to make it in? [editline]5th December 2011[/editline] If it does, feel free to add this

It's....beautiful
Actually, I have to agree with Madman. Ak'z, that is beautiful. Like, honestly, I can't find a single complaint. I absolutely love the ambient background sound, the drums fit beautifully with the piece, and the vocals - effects included - are absolutely amazing. It almost sounds like what happens when you take a song and slow it down 800% with something like Paulstretch, only it's an actual, coherent song. The only thing I can say is it doesn't sound very Christmas-y. Like, it's obviously Christmas themed (I mean it's Jingle Bells; how much more Christmas-themed can you get?), but the song itself is pretty dark and brooding. May be why I like it so much, though. You did an amazingly excellent job, though. I assume you did this one in Audacity as well? Who did the vocals, by chance?
Akayz what are you doing? You made an ok song. Something is clearly wrong now.
Can I submit one that I wrote but didn't play on? I'm not sure if I can due to copyright and stuff, but if it's okay by you guys I'll ask for rights to publish it for free. [editline]5th December 2011[/editline] Actually, nevermind. There's no way in hell their label would allow it. I was thinking about "God Jul Jesus (Merry Xmas Jesus)" by Honningbarna, it's a punk song about how christmas has turned into a tradition that's more about spending money than anything else. I met them backstage at a small festival where they needed some help with a christmas song. I've helped a bit with the lyrics and melody, but I don't think you could consider it more than a kickstart to be honest. Kept on chatting with their singer, and most of my ideas have been overrun so you have to know them to notice them. I'll see if I can find the song on Youtube or something so you can listen to it, I'm actually really proud that I helped.
Who did the vocals, by chance?
That's me. This is the first time I've posted my voice on a forum. :v: [editline]5th December 2011[/editline]
but the song itself is pretty dark and brooding. May be why I like it so much, though.
Yeah I did kind of butcher the original song. I like to do that.
