About 3 weeks ago I was given klonopin and tramadol. It worked magic for any pain or anxiety I had. For those of you who don't know, Klonopin is a tranquilizer and Tramadol is codeine and tylenol. I had a prescription of 0.5 mg and my doctor told me not to use it unless I really needed it. Im not chronically paranoid or anxious, but occasionally I'll have a bad day and I'm supposed to take it then. The tramadol was for dental work. anyways, I decided to start taking the klonopin regularly. I had 1 a day for the last 3 weeks and it was good for about the first week. the other 2 weeks I was hoping that I hadn't built a tolerance to it but I had. So I quit on sunday.
last night I felt like hell. I was up til 2 am playing minecraft with nothing wrong with me. I went to bed and turned the lights out, and layed there in the dark. My entire body felt restless and my mind was racing in paranoia. It felt like I was falling endlessly. I turned the lights on and did a few exercises to try to release the excess energy but nothing worked. I was afraid I was going insane. I called my ex girlfriend because i read somewhere that when People were going through withdrawal or having a paranoid trip, they used to called timothy leary's estate in millbrook because they trusted that he knew what to do, and they would calm down, just because they trusted him and his voice. my ex and I just talked and I was still flipping out. She went to bed and I went to the bathroom to splash water on my face. I was startled by my own reflection. went back into my room and couldn't calm down. So I meditated. It's kind of cliche or dumb or whatever, but it really helps. I closed my eyes (despite my fear that If I did I would sink into some sort of abyss) and counted my breaths (in out 1, in out 2, etc. until I got to ten, then I'd start over). I did this for 10 minutes and opened my eyes, and I had calmed down and then I slept like a baby.
Today Im feeling detached from everything, like Im watching my life through a tv and its not really real. I have trouble focussing and slight nausea (I took some benadryl for that). I started feeling like I did last night but the benadryl tackled most of those symptoms. I may try meditation again later tonight.
Klonopin is a low dosage dependency drug, which means you can take a regular dosage and still get addicted to it. I apparently built a tolerance very quickly, and for 3 weeks I had to take it just to feel normally.
The moral: DONT EVER DO TRANQUILIZERS, THEY'RE VERY EASY TO GET ADDICTED TO.
I also had a weeks worth of percocet for my appendectomy once, but that just made me depressed when I was out of percocet (they gave me about 5 or 7). Dont do percocet either.
Trust me. Tranquilizers are fun and games, but the withdrawal is loaded with anxiety and paranoia that your brain is going to pop and you wont have control over your own mind.
In other words:

YOU DON'T WANT NO PART OF THIS SHIT
I find this extremely hard to read.
I remember I used to take about 2000 mg of Vicodin a day after my bike crash. After a few weeks I quit cold turkey and couldn't sleep for days.
I feel you, man
Derp derp bensos suck. So does tramodol. Benzo withdrawls can kill a man.

Wait, they prescribed you klonopin while you were taking tramadol? Did that doctor fucking get their degree online? You never mix benzodiazapines with opioids.

klono withdrawal can kill, thats why i said "if you know how to use it"
I knew a guy who had Cystic Fibrosis who got addicted to klono. He smoked all sorts of shit, too. We kind of fell out of touch, though, and I dunno if he's still alive.
yeah junkies are like that
You're an idiot, Tramadol has nothing to do with codeine.

try again
Tramadol hydrochloride (Ultram, Tramal others below) is a centrally acting opioid analgesic, used in treating moderate to severe pain. The drug has a wide range of applications, including treatment for restless leg syndrome and fibromyalgia. It was developed by the pharmaceutical company Grünenthal GmbH in the late 1970s.[1][2]
Tramadol possesses weak agonist actions at the μ-opioid receptor, releases serotonin, and inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine.[3][4]
Tramadol is a synthetic analog of the phenanthrene alkaloid codeine and, as such, is an opioid and also a prodrug (codeine is metabolized to morphine, tramadol is converted to O-desmethyltramadol). Opioids are chemical compounds which act upon one or more of the human opiate receptors. The euphoria and respiratory depression are mainly caused by the μ1 and μ2 receptors; the addictive nature of the drug is due to these effects as well as its serotonergic/noradrenergic effects. The opioid agonistic effect of tramadol and its major metabolite(s) are almost exclusively mediated by the substance's action at the μ-opioid receptor. This characteristic distinguishes tramadol from many other substances (including morphine) of the opioid drug class, which generally do not possess tramadol's degree of subtype selectivity.
It's an analogue, you know what that means? It is synthetic.

Dumbass.
Also, you're a very weak minded individual if you became dependent on clonazepam after 3 weeks.
Klonopin sounds like a marble video game with a long-eared furry protagonist.
Fuck yeah k-pins. Those motherfuckers get me good. You're just a pussy and had a bad experience. Tramadol isn't that fucking good.

I don't mean to sound like an idiot but...
Huh?

They are two types of drugs.
Drugs often have adverse effects when mixed, and this is a case in which you shouldn't mix these two types.

Thanks for putting that in english. I don't know if ExplodingGuy is a pharmacist or what but trying to tell your average facepunch user "You never mix benzodiazapines with opioids"(Which sounded like a different language to me) usually leads to a "...Wha?" more often then not.

Your avatar fit perfectly, too.
"Taking Ibuprofen when you don't have a headache is not a good idea. 'Hey lads, this guy's in pain... Wait, no he's not, let's cause this fucker some.'"

You should've been able to infer that they're both kinds of drugs, then gone on to understand the rest of the sentence.

what was his name

Hey chill, dependence forming varies from person to person.
Have to get my wisdom teeth out in a few weeks, other than being worried about the actual operation I'm more afraid of what I'm supposed to take afterwards.
I hate strong painkillers.
