Discount chain Poundland has agreed to a £597m takeover by South African retail group Steinhoff International.
Steinhoff said Poundland would be a "complementary fit" to its expansion plans in the UK and the rest of Europe.
Poundland operates more than 900 stores across the UK, Ireland and Spain, and employs 18,000 people, but recently announced falling profits.
Steinhoff owns 40 retail brands in 30 countries, including Bensons for Beds and Harveys in the UK.
I hope this doesn't put a damper on Ashen's usual Poundland haul videos. He'd be devastated if that happened.

Not like Poundland is the only Dollar Store.
besides, that dude's house is quite literally filled with shit he has yet to review. I'm sure he's set for a few centuries by now.
From Poundland to Randland
There's still a dozen more clones of Poundland like Poundworld or Poundstrecher that all look the same anyways
I live near a shopping area that has a Poundworld and Poundstrecther literally next door to each other, it's insane how common these stores are

I'd imagine these sorts of shops will only get more common as retail space keeps degrading in value.

It's probably only a matter of time before our village gets an "Uncle Poundy's Pound Palace" on the high street.

Depends, Poundworld was founded 16 years before Poundland.
Maybe they just got bought 597 million times?
They're right; not everything costs £1 exactly.... THREE cans of coca cola for only £1! :v:
