The fucking Wizard Crackers holy shit
I remember playing this game ages ago on the PS1 when I was a kid. I don't remember it being so bad :v:
I had this on PC but oooooh it's very different to this.
this game, this freaking game
That is not Hagrid.
I have this game on PS1. Never played it. Now I'm tempted.
Holy shit this game is 13 years old already?
oh god I remember everything those fucking puffskeins
I had this on PC, holy shit was it that bad on ps1?
Wow, I finished that game today on PC, and I had like 6 copies of it on PS1!
Wow, I finished that game today on PC, and I had like 6 copies of it on PS1!
What are you doing with your life?
Jesus H. Christ that slowed down background music had me in tears around 3:00
It's like the entire world is melting, Hagrid being the biggest sufferer. RIP
I had this on PC but oooooh it's very different to this.
Tru dat, I recall the PC version being way better than whatever the hell this is. For one thing the character models looked better than this, and there wasn't as much of that timed bullcrap. That said I had a bit of difficulty tracing the spell sigils during the lessons, though that was probably just me being a pretty young chappie when I first played. That and the fact that my machine back then ran the game at single-figure framerates most of the time. (I was insanely tenacious in terms of playing games back then, regardless of most of the issues present) Also, on a bit of a tangent, the final boss of the second game involved using Griffindor's sword to sthrow fireballs at the Basilisk. Because at that point why not?

Amen to that. I don't think it's compatible with my modern setup, I'd probably need some sort of Windows 98 emulator to make it run. That said, if EA doesn't get in the way, maybe GOG would be able to give it the "fix-it treatment" they give to so many old games. Dunno if it'd be worth it, but from what I recall the Harry Potter games on PC were actually alright. And whilst we're on memory lane, I remember that rather than just picking up Chocolate Frogs to restore health, the second game included the ability to brew Wiggenweld Healing Potions and carry them around to drink on the fly. I remember this because I also remember the second game had a sort of jelly bean trading system, like certain wizards would give you items in exchange for Bertie Bott's Every-Flavour Beans which you found all around the castle. I played those games so long ago, and only now do the memories flood back...
It is possible to fix the PC version for modern machines, only the main menu gets affected by it. Since the PC version uses the unreal engine.
The good old days when different console releases were entirely different games.
What is this thing called, when polygons are twitching in 3d on older consoles like PS1?
What is this thing called, when polygons are twitching in 3d on older consoles like PS1?
Because the Playstation 1 didn't have a dedicated floating point unit.
The floating point unit (FPU) is a special processor that is dedicated to handling complex mathematical equations, particularly those that include non-integers, numbers after the decimal point. These calculations are commonly referred to as floating point operations because the decimal point can move, or float, depending on the outcome of the calculation.
So because of the lack of processing power, the poly drawing math was done less than exact, but quickly.
Because the Playstation 1 didn't have a dedicated floating point unit. So because of the lack of processing power, the poly drawing math was done less than exact, but quickly.
The issue seems way exaggerated when playing emulated as well
I still have this, its actually right next to me in a shelf :v: I remember getting pretty far in the game, but the later levels stared to scare me too much as a kid, so I never really got that much further after you race the ghost.
Hagrid looks headless from behind, good lord.
I only played the pc versions of chamber of secrets and azkaban but the forth one a bit (god that one is so awful what were they thinking) 2 has to be the best one in the series imo. The whole card collecting thing was so nice. Also this song
First three of them (on PC) were actually nice, whatever came next was just a tie-in for money

That game was the best.
As bad as the early Potter games were, they had some real nice atmosphere and Hogwarts was full of secrets and shit
As bad as the early Potter games were, they had some real nice atmosphere and Hogwarts was full of secrets and shit
The early Potter games were the shit. It was like, dark souls for kids. Explore, find secrets and kill bosses.
The early Potter games were the shit. It was like, dark souls for kids. Explore, find secrets and kill bosses.
Think it has something to do with how the world of Harry Potter was much more light-hearted back then... well, that, and our ages when playing these games.
