• So why weed?

I'm wondering why such a large amount of people smoke weed. I personally don't, I tried it a couple times with a friend of mine who is a regular smoker. Made sure I did it right and shit, but I found basically no effect. So basically what I'm asking is what benefit/positive feeling does weed give you? Cause I've found none personally. Just curious, since in general I've never supported the legalization of weed, but it is so popular here and most places that there must be some reason for it XP
Reason why people do it. Is because it is the most basic of all drugs. Simple yet so mind expanding. The safest and the only drug I will ever choose over another.
It makes everything much more tolerable and plays nice with a lot of different situations.

Food tastes better, eating feels great, moving and touching is euphoric, sometimes you get waves of euphoric pleasure (when i get really high anyway), sex/masturbation is better, colors can be more vibrant sometimes, and any fun activity you like before gets better. I look at it as an activity enhancer that can be applied to anything and make it better. Even crappy things like work and school become more tolerable but it can hinder performance if you are too high. It helps aches and pains, nausea, stomach problems, anxiety, depression, and lots of other things so some people use it to medicate when they have a headache or whatever. Its just a drug that has gotten a bad rap because of propaganda and the government. If it was never il-legalized it would be still legal today. Another reason why so many people do it is because it has so much publicity. You learn about it in school, even though its mostly lies, and it is one of the easiest things to get your hands on, sometimes easier than alcohol (for underage kids anyway). So since it gets so much attention people are going to think about trying it. They try it, realize they like it and wonder why they spewed all of this bullshit in the first place (like me). watch this and you will understand why it should be legalized. Its pretty accurate and their sources are legit since i have seen these myself and confirmed before watching the video, this research has been public for years and even sometimes decades. Trust me there is a feeling, and its indescribable but you will know when you feel it.
Just curious, since in general I've never supported the legalization of weed, but it is so popular here and most places that there must be some reason for it XP
The penalties for smoking weed are harsh and at the very least should be decriminalized for personal use. Marijuana is a better alternative to highly addictive painkiller medications, which prescription pill usage is on the rise because it's so widely available in parents' medicine cabinets. Many people OD from pills yearly. I believe in marijuana as a medicine and many people could benefit from the marijuana plant.

Unless you've had some sort of rare mutation that makes you lack certain receptors, most probably you've been smoking improperly. A marijuana high is a very unique feeling that is impossible to miss. Closest description I've come up with is feeling like a sine wave (no joke). The feeling is different for everyone, but once it hits, you'll know it.
If you didn't feel anything, you didn't do it right. Nothing to be ashamed of or anything, a lot of people have trouble with it their first few times.

I'll say it again but "I don't smoke weed because it doesn't work" is wrong, like Exxon said. You're doing it wrong.
society based from/on weed is what i'm understanding
Have you tried inhaling?
If it was never il-legalized it would be still legal today.
Wow you don't say
lol, you'd know if you were high. if there's any doubt then you probably weren't in any case, for me weed really helps with my depression, particularly in making me forget that I hate myself and that life is depressing and it just lets me chill out and enjoy things for a few hours instead of being mopey and shit
You should probably smoke more next time, you obviously havent become properly high if you cant really feel anything
lol, you'd know if you were high. if there's any doubt then you probably weren't in any case, for me weed really helps with my depression, particularly in making me forget that I hate myself and that life is depressing and it just lets me chill out and enjoy things for a few hours instead of being mopey and shit
Same here.
Some people use it as medication, some use it as a way to meet new people, some even just do it to get high. I personally do it because of depression and some anxiety witch it has helped.
It helps me sleep, it helps my anxiety a lot (if I smoke at night my anxiety the next day is very much reduced) and helps me a lot with my chronic knee pain. And it has so many potential benefits for other people, it helps chemo patients with nausea, pain and gives them an appetite, it also helps a member of my family with pancreatic cancer actually live her life, the chemo pain goes away, she wont feel nauseous, shell be able to sleep, eat and actually be able to stay out of bed for longer than 3 hours. Not to mention it is the safest drug i can think of in terms of overdosing, deaths and adverse health effects (depending on how it is ingested) And just as Exxon and others have said, if you didn't get high it was either shit weed or you weren't doing it right.
Wow you don't say
He's trying to say if it wasn't made illegal in the first place, then it would have never been made illegal between then and now also if you didn't get any effects - then what exactly are you judging
feels good man.
smoke weed erryday
smoke weed erryday
haha except when you're dry, then you complain on here :v:

For all the responses saying I am doing it wrong, that is why I specifically did it with an experienced smoker. We got together to test how much of the effect was psychological. How much of the relaxing and mental benefits are a psychological association and such. The test is obviously flawed for many reasons, mainly being just one test subject. We did it a few times to see if we could negate any first time not working. But I imagine it is perfectly possible that even the number of times we did try it weren't quite enough. I certainly wouldn't conclude it doesn't help people, we were just looking to see if it was inherently because of the weed or if that was just what they picked up and worked for them. Thanks for the info, I guess i'll have to try this again some time for a better test. Goig to art college so that shouldn't be hard :D

And if you're a first timer, or really just the one holding the smokin bud at the moment, people are going to be watching you, and even if it's sub consicous your mind gets a bit nervous sometimes.
Wow you don't say
don't be retarded. if it was never made illegal there would be no stigma today because it would have any ground to stand on. the only real reason people think it should remain illegal is because it has been for so long. shit, imagine a place where people are just walking down the street in public smoking joints along with cops on their break. no problem whatsoever.

[editline]23rd July 2012[/editline] I remember I got so high once, me and my two buddies sat on the sofa whilst one of my buddy took us on a Habbo Space Adventure. It was fucking weird. Then my other buddy started doing the Habbo dance, it was all square and perfect and we couldn't stop laughing. That was the best Habbo Space Adventure I ever had. Then we watched Carl Sagan explain the Red / Blue shift.
