I couldn't find any recent threads on cycling so I figured I'd make a new one.
This thread is for anyone and everyone who likes to ride their bike. Whether it be for leisure, transportation, sport, or all of the above. This isn't just a place to post your bike and leave it at that. Here you can discuss anything related to the cycling world.
I'm no guru or anything, so if anyone has any content they feel belongs in the OP feel free to talk to me so I can beef up this post.
I'll start off by posting a bit about myself. I've been into riding since I was in 4th grade. I really got into it when sister's Raleigh mountain bike was handed down to me. I got my first new bike for my 11th birthday. It was a Trek 3700. It only had a 13" frame so I had already grown out of it by the time I was 14. But even then I rode it for hours on end. I gradually started riding less since it got to be a pain to ride such a small bike. I finally got a new bike for my 18th birthday and now I'm back to riding regularly. I absolutely love it! I decided I wanted a road bike since I usually ride on pavement, and the difference between my new bike and my old one is like night and day. Going from a tiny mountain bike with huge tires, etc. to a road bike that's built to fit me and my riding style is just astonishing. I can ride for much longer distances without using nearly as much energy and I go a hell of a lot faster.
Here's what I'm riding:

2011 Giant Defy 3
So FP, what do you ride? Why do you ride? What do you like about it? etc.
Feel free to ask any questions you might have, while I may not be able to answer it, I'm sure there's someone else on here who is capable of it.
I ride my fathers 15 year old raliegh road/mountain bike cross. Its falling apart but it is awesome because it is just so much better quality than the £100 mtb i bought from eBay 5 months ago. I like cycling as it gets me where I am going faster and I get slightly fitter while doing so :)

That about sums it up right there. Beats the shit out of running, no?

My baby.
I've only been riding track for a couple of months I had a shitty mountain bike before.
The bike above is the frame I've got but I have new handle bars, pedals, toe clips and I added brakes.
I started riding free wheel but when I tried out fixed I just got use to it and now I ride fixed all the time. It's getting colder out so I'm not gonna be biking for much longer this year.
I have a mountain bike. I don't know what kind but its quite good. It was about $550. 24 gears, front and rear disk brakes, pedal shifters. I usually just ride around on the street and through this park nearby which is quite off road and fun. I ride because its awesome and gets me places because I cant drive yet. Its also good exercise.
In the summer I cycle everywhere.
I ride this sucker in my spare time:

:smug:
But I usually just ride my Schwinn to work.
Hybrid bikes are where its at. You get the best of both road and mountain bikes.

I love my 2009 Seek 2.
I've been thinking about getting a bike to get to work. Get a work out and not pay shit for gas, killing two birds with one stone really. Only problem is that it's about 4 miles away going up hill on a highway.
I do a lot of cycling for errands in-town. Elsewhere I just drive a car. It keeps me and shape and keeps my gas bills down.

This is all I got, what now? :(
I use my mountain bike for anything :D
Here's my baby...

hey so does your father. What a coincidence!
I have a Giant Defy 4 2010, very similar to the OP's bike.
My bike is rusty and has spider webs on it, I haven't used it in a year..

Most recent photo of my horsey.
It's a ~ late 80's - early 90's Bianchi "Campione D'Italia".
I really want a legitimate track frame instead of this road geo. I've been on the lookout for an F.Moser or maybe even a Merckx. In the meantime I'm slowly switching out everything for black. I really want a set of H+sons too. It used to be white/silver when I had the original threaded fork and super sick Nitto stem. Kids in a Honda Civic ran me off the road popping both tires and bending the fork/cracking the headset.
I'm predominantly a track cyclist, road racing is too long for my liking.
Competed at state level for track and road, was chosen to compete nationally for road but had to pull out due to injury.
Here's my track bike

I just came back from a bike ride.
I'm 12, so I have a BMX, not a mountain bike, (I just don't get how the fuck you ride with a seat higher than the handlebars.), but it's really fun just hanging out with mates riding our bikes.
Since I started uni, I either walk 40 minutes or cycle 30. It's really awesome, I haven't cycled this much since I was a kid.
I'm already seeing the benefits of regular exercise too, I wish I cycled more as a teenager.

Haro Bmx
Because it's fast, durable, and it's very light and easy to pick up. And I haven't had to fix it often.
I use it mostly to visit my friends, as I live a couple of miles away. And it's better than walking.

You ride a slow bike
I'm getting a new bike around Christmas, not sure which yet. I want a road bike around the $1,000 mark (+/- $200). I've been riding a hybrid for a while but I live too inner-city to make good use of it.
You ride a slow bike
Yeah a 40 minute walk takes 10 minutes to cycle at the very most
Bicyclists who ride in the middle of the road and think they own the road are dicks. That is all.
I thought this thread was about recycling
I have a mountainbike with full suspension from Biltema back in Sweden that I totally miss. Haven't had a ride on it since I moved to UK back in 2009. :saddowns:
