A US doctor infected with the deadly Ebola virus in Liberia has arrived in the US for treatment at a specialised unit in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr Kent Brantly arrived in a specially equipped private plane at a military base before being whisked away to Emory University Hospital.
Fellow infected US aid worker Nancy Writebol is expected to follow shortly.
Ebola has claimed 728 lives in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone this year, killing up to 90% of sufferers.
The virus spreads through human contact with a sufferer's bodily fluids.
Initial flu-like symptoms can lead to external haemorrhaging from areas like eyes and gums, and internal bleeding which can lead to organ failure.
The US health authorities have warned against travelling to the African states affected and 50 extra American specialists are being sent to affected areas.
Doubt you'd be saying the same if you were the one affected. He has the same right to treatment like everybody else does.

Read up on the containment he'll be kept in. There is no way this virus is going to spread from him without deliberate effort on the part of the people managing his containment.

You knew this would happen. WHY DIDN'T WE LISTEN?!
Ok now I feel like they're trying to get me scared.
Good chances are the guy will be rushed into a containment zone, and if he dies he'll be burnt to nothing.

Rushed into a containment zone?
Pretty sure he's been fairly contained basically since he left Africa, nobody fucks around when it comes to diseases like this.

One symptom of the Ebola virus is constant and continuous sneezing.
Ebola isn't transmitted through sneezing or coughing, so unless he's sneezing vomit or diarrhea we're probably all fine.
From some of the reactions it seems as though people think the CDC are a bunch of bumbling idiots posting this infected dude through Fed Ex.

ya but its kinda shitty that just because he's an american he gets way better treatment than the hundreds that are already suffering and dying from this over there already
i think though its also a chance for the CDC to get a look at the actual virus up close anyways

He is an American citizen risking his own life to help others, and trained years for this. He deserves treatment by his country
And it's not like they're casually flying him economy class together with 200 other people.
He was flown to the US inside this which is inside a CDC owner jet:
And the people handling him are inside special suits, including himself:
I was thinking "oh good at least the ebola's regulated to the east coast, I'll be safe over here in Arizona"
then this motherfucker
Article says Atlanta but the thread title says Arizona.
by arizona you mean georgia right
The way the title says US, Arizona makes me think there's a place called the US inside Arizona inside the US

Article is right.
I thought Ebloa was incurable, what can we do for him?

Supportive treatment. Keeping electrolytes and fluids right, managing clotting and bleeding, and a bunch of other things.
There's no cure for the virus, but you can treat the symptoms as best you can and hope for the best until either the person dies or the immune system manages to fight it off.
you guys realise the usa is all fine as long as nobody touches his puke or his shit right
you guys realise the usa is all fine as long as nobody touches his puke or his shit right
But what if he mutates to a boomer, then we are screwed
