Even with fish ladders, and trucking the fish up above the dams it's a massive logistics issue. Which has caused the fish population to decline specifically salmon.

But how does the next generation of fish then get back downstream with the dam in the way?

This is both genius and madness, I wouldn't have it any other way. Also those fish are probably all like "WHAT IS HAPPENING" as they are whooshed through these weird tubes, followed by "MY GOD IT'S FULL OF STARS" just before they exit.
