• Steam banned me for giving them money.

Well going on 28 or so hours now, my steam account has been disabled, which is essentially a ban. This is not a VAC ban, but was manually done by steam. I contacted support when I first discovered it, and I've only now found out why they did it. I made too many transactions. I gifted about 20+ copies of Everquest (Spent around $50) to people and instead of contacting me or something, they disabled the account. No e-mail, no message, nothing. So essentially, I gave steam money and they disabled my account for it. They should re-enable it and hopefully they will, else I will move on to the next step. I guess I know why they did it, but it is a stupid method. I should have gotten some kind of notification and I've given them the reason I did it, all my info, and proved I am the owner, and they still haven't fixed it.

It happens, I bought 8 copies of Killing Floor and my account got disabled. I sent in a ticket and it got fixed. They must think you are going crazy with a stolen card.
No idea why that went here, wrong thread.
tell gabe on them
You didn't think that gifting 20 copies of Everquest was suspicious?
i'm sure you can sort this out by talking with them someone who buys people games shouldn't have this happen to them
Same thing happened to me. And my bank also got suspicious and disabled my card to investigate.

Steam didn't ban you for giving Valve money, the automated system suspected you had stolen a credit card and started buying shit with it because you bought a crapload of games in a short period of time, so it suspended your account until further notice. Send in a ticket. Christ, you people blow everything way out of proportion.
atleast they're looking out for you? if your card got stolen and someone bought 6 copies of BC2 for all their friends and your card company didn't investigate you would be angry
That's not exactly what I'm angry about. I'm angry that I actually went and confirmed all the purchases myself with receipts to my email, and they still refuse to re-enable it.
Be an American: Sue
EQ is like $2.50 I fully understand the point of the system, but gifting a bunch of people a really cheap game actually shouldn't seem so unusual. If it were a bunch of $50 gifts, then that would be a little different
Why do I feel annoyed after reading this post?
Because you're [del]an irritable cunt?[/del] in a bad mood? (User was banned for this post ("Report trolls, don't reply" - verynicelady))
If it was automatic it wouldn't happen a week after I did it.
VAC bans people up to two months after it detects cheating. Steam's automatic systems do that.
It would make more sense to contact the account holder about the situation. Disabling your account seems really stupid if your account is in good standing.
Be an American: Sue
It's the American way!
If it was automatic it wouldn't happen a week after I did it.
They don't find out you've made a transaction until it appears on your official charge list.
It would make more sense to contact the account holder about the situation. Disabling your account seems really stupid if your account is in good standing.
This is exactly what I'm annoyed about. They have my phone number, they could call or something.
Why do I feel annoyed after reading this post?
because you're a dipshit next question please
This is exactly what I'm annoyed about. They have my phone number, they could call or something.
i don't see what's so important about needing your steam account, by the looks of it you have mostly non-steam games that you can launch from the common folder true you're annoyed and they should have contacted you blah blah, but if the game isn't directly using steam cloud/api you can wait till the re-enable it
i don't see what's so important about needing your steam account, by the looks of it you have mostly non-steam games that you can launch from the common folder
Last time I tried to launch a non-Steam game from the common folder, it made me launch Steam first.
hes not a troll
Oh please, look at his post history.

I could understand if he's had problems in the past with the account (hacked or something and had to contact Steam to get the account returned to him or something like that), but I'm guessing Linelor's account is in good standing and hasn't had any problems up until this point with it.
