One of Disney's Hollywood Studios' first attractions is closing permanently next week.[/B]
Disney confirms the Studio Backlot Tour will close Saturday, Sept. 27 to make way for new development. Among the "new development" is to move "Wandering Oaken's Trading Post" out from its current place and expand it. The trading post is part of Frozen Summer Fun, which will run through the holidays at least.
Beyond that, a Disney spokesperson could provide no details on what expansions might be coming.
The Studio Backlot Tour was originally called the Backstage Studio Tour when the park opened in 1989. The original tour was a more elaborate two-part attraction that took guests on a tram tour of the backlot area, plus a walking tour that included numerous special effects demonstrations. Over the years the tour has gradually shrunk to its pres.
In 2008 live tour guides were replaced with automated narration.[/quote]

Another classic Walt Disney World attraction is closing it seems. I dunno how I feel about this one, since the rumored replacement is a Star Wars themed land, and the Backstage tour is a shadow of it's former self.
Shit son, I remember that from waaay back when I last holidayed there. I love that ride. The big blast of heat as that tanker explodes, dayumnnn.
When I was younger, I roped my dad in to the audience participation PT boat scene before the ride, where they get soaked in water and shit. Now he's a stuntman at that park. Its a shame to see this ride go. Good memories.
Damn, I've only been on it once or twice and was just planning a trip in December.

now frozen can definitely go to hell for being responsible for taking away such a great goddamn ride.

Oaken's is a temporary filler, the long term tenant hasn't been confirmed yet and is rumored to be Star Wars.
This was like, my only favorite ride at MGM next to Star Tours. Sucks to hear this, may never end up going to MGM after this.

The Toy Story ride is fun if you don't mind either getting in the park right as it opens or waiting three hours in line.
God damn dude, this sucks. This was one of my favorite attractions when I went two summers ago.

I got to be in the show and I was in the chair that gets several thousand gallons of water! They told me to just order a pizza when I got on the fake phone to make a convincing conversation. I'm glad I got to experience that before it got shut down.
That's such a fuckin shame. This is one of the coolest things ever, it actually got me into practical special effects and movies when I was a kid. I hope they don't take Lights, Motors, Action too..

Probably not that one since its way off in its own little arena at the very edge of the park and they have like multiple versions of it in France, Japan and other Disney lands so I think it'd be safe but who knows
They give like a week's notice on this shit, It's so disappointing. Wish I was still living in florida so I could run over there one more time.
Damn, this really sucks. The Backlot tour was awesome :(
MGM still has plenty of great rides though. Tower of Terror and the Aerosmith Roller Coaster are awesome.
