Privatized Military Corp. Blackwater Targets War in Somalia
With billions of tax dollars from government contracts in the pockets of Blackwater owner Erik Prince, the private military corporation is now establishing a foothold in none other than Somalia in its efforts to wage war against, what Erik Prince regards as, Islamic radicalism. While the New York Times reported that he now has a home in the United Arab Emirates, Blackwater is in the midst of supporting a mercenary firm attempting to intervene in Somalia’s civil war.
Although Mr. Prince’s intentions are to keep the world safe from Islamic radicalism, Blackwater’s intervention in Somalia can only lead to disaster considering that the engagements are further dividing Islamic and Christian societies rather than seeking ways to have them coexist.
With war comes collateral damage; with collateral damage comes the tool to recruit more insurgents and fighters. In no way does this logic solve the issue at hand considering that any Muslim who draws a weapon is immediately considered a radical for defending his home after an attack. The idea that perpetual war breeds peace is a fallacy.
In no fashion can “radical Islam” be completely wiped off the face of the map no more than one can actually identify what a radical Muslim is. Profiteering off the misery of a society by diseasing it with war is dangerous to the wellbeing of any international or regional society.
The litmus test for determining the enemy rests entirely in the hands of a private corporation armed with not just weapons, but political clout as it parasitically leeches off government bureaucracies through contracts designed to keep flags out of battlefields and mercenaries in.
While Blackwater seems dangerous – a private military corporation running amok with no laws or ruled to bind it from annihilating anything it deems as an enemy – the United States is the sole conspirator behind its potential. Even more dangerous, this “private” military corporation cannot be considered a byproduct of the privatized market when government contracts determine the corporation’s pay.
Billions of dollars rushed into the pockets of Erik Prince and his company from the State Department during the height of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. The short-term benefit from hiring mercenaries was the removal of an American flag on any battlefield mishap while the longterm effects are now proving, as expected, dangerous in the realm of realpolitik. Somalia may just be the testing ground for larger battlefields to come in the future.
Earlier this month, we learned that private military corporation, Blackwater, was on the verge of further instigating domestic divides in Somalia. The Associated Press recently reported that a clash in Somalia’s capitol, Mogadishu, left 16 dead when, “police executed a plainclothes soldier they suspected of being an Islamist insurgent.”
The battle against radical Islam comes not from a cause ardent to native Somalians, but rather Erik Prince, owner of Blackwater, who has a contract with the Somali government to extend the war in the country. Profiteering from the misery of others, Blackwater holds no legal authority to any government or law, except to contract and pay.
Let's get all the non radical people out of the middle east and then build a giant dome over it.
And people wonder why the world hates Americans so much.

Blackwater = Americans. My eyes have been opened. Why haven't I been receiving employee checks from them, though?
Gotta take this up with the management department I guess.
And people wonder why the world hates Americans so much.
Because we just can not seem to stop getting off to the fact that we have to be the worlds fucking hall monitor it's annoying for my government to do this shit and it's citizens get all the hate and shit.
Do you have a source? Or is this just an opinion of yours?

But in all seriousness, a PMC intervening in a foreign civil war? It's like the medieval days when there were loads of mercenary armies doing stuff for hire...
Ha, I like how everybody thinks a private country represents the USA.

It was founded to support police and military training.
It is not funded by the government.
It is not exclusively made up of Americans.
stupid quote that doesn't explain the rest of the situation
The US Government hired BlackWater to do support ops in Iraq, where they quickly said "oh shit we fucked up" after BlackWater started committing war crimes. They were paid, doesn't mean that they're funded by them. That's like saying you fund the KKK because you went to a Dry Cleaner owned by a KKK member.
Didn't they rename themselves because of all the bad press? I thought they were xe now.
Anyway, maybe I am just skim reading too much but this article seems to suggest that are just going to and deal with what they see as a problem themselves and not on behalf of someone.

Because they have been paid for US Government contracts, by your logic Microsoft is Government funded and the US Government is responsible for their actions.
What part of that is hard to understand?
Now for the Somalia WAR
Blackwater takes the "do it by the books" quote, and throws it into the fucking ground, burries it, pisses on it, and then eats off of it.
In other words they do anything that'll "achieve" victory.
Huh, I never new Blackwater was part of the US military, but thanks to this thread, now I know.
/sarcasm

I thought it was illegal for PMC's the act offensively?
And didn't Blackwater change their name to Xe?
