https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/sep/20/apple-patent-recycled-paper-bag
The patent application summarises the bag as follows: "A paper bag is disclosed. The paper bag may include a bag container formed of white solid bleached sulfate paper with at least 60% post-consumer content." Recycled paper bags are not an innovation, of course. The innovation, in this case, is how Apple intends to hold the bag together with such a high proportion of recycled material. White paper bags made of recycled material tend to be fairly flimsy due to the amount of bleach used, so Apple has come up with a bundle of alterations that should help its bags remain both pearly white and environmentally friendly.
It's for their store bags. Utterly retarded thing to patent, though, considering it has no monetary value whatsoever.
Sadly the patent application makes no mention of a headphone jack.
Nice one, guardian. In all seriousness though aside from not understanding the obsession with pure white this doesn't really seem like much to fuss about. I doubt there's *too* many companies trying to make sturdy pure white recycled paper bags
It's for their store bags. Utterly retarded thing to patent, though, considering it has no monetary value whatsoever.
they can license the process for creating it out and money money
Apple will write COURAGE on them and charge $699 and the customers will still say "whatever we didn't need the products anyway"

Those alterations include fancy reinforcements at the folds and gussets of the bag, another one at the bottom that sticks to the sides, and a handle “formed entirely of paper fibre yarn knitted in an 8-stitch circular knit pattern”.
I swear by my balls I've already seen those in shitty "herbal supplement" stores, with a design (that if I understood the description correctly) is far more identical than the Samsung Galaxy S2 is to the equivalent iPhone from same timeframe.
the actual fuck is this
I came in expecting a CollegeHumor video.
Watch them reinvent the bag by removing the handles. ~innovation~
Watch them reinvent the bag by removing the handles. ~innovation~
They'll just put them on the bottom
Watch them reinvent the bag by removing the handles. ~innovation~
It takes courage to remove the handles from bags meaning you need to buy a store bag handle adapter to use it.
Only approved apple items may be deposited in our bag To do otherwise is a violation of the ToS you agreed to when you purchased the bag and may be subject to legal action
Nothing says "environmentally friendly" by putting a strict patent on it so other people can't make their own.
It takes courage to remove the handles from bags meaning you need to buy a store bag handle adapter to use it.
It plugs right into the bag and makes it unusable.
This is nothing new guys. If you're a huge company with brand recognition up the ass and you're planning to launch a special paper bag to put your stuff in you DO need to trademark it. You guys realize that knockoff companies make decent money by selling those kinds of bags right? People buy the bags of high end products and use them as accessories. Other low-end companies purposefully steal the design of the more recognizable brands. That absolutely include packaging and bagging When you're a multi-billion corporation and you design a thing you patent or trademark it, because otherwise it'll be stolen and cashed in on by people that aren't you. That's the way industry works
nothing says environmentally friendly like BLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEACH
i cant believe this was granted, theres 100+ years of prior artwork, just switching the paper doesnt mean shit considering that thousands of types of papers have been used for bags around the world
I want this to be demoed on stage and have people go into apple stores just to get the bag.
This just illustrates how bat shit crazy the upper management of Apple is. They won't sue Razer for outright copying the Mac Book Pro, but if you copy this paper bag, you'd better have a good lawyer.
Watch them reinvent the bag by removing the handles. ~innovation~
Bluetooth handles
Apple likes to control every aspect of their customers experience. I'm sure these bags will be very recognizable and other businesses would be bound to copy them exactly. When you are at high end luxury malls, the shopping bags themselves are walking advertisements for the stores they are from, and a lot of care is put into their design and materials. This seems like a smart thing to do on their part. It's not like they are trying to sell a new paper bag design to the end user, it's just one more facet to their brand image that the consumer eats up.
