They make some pretty lofty promises on their kick starter page, if they can fulfil them it'll be a good game, but that's a pretty big "if".
I'm not surprised that they aren't doing any of the work on the actual game, just pitching their idea and having other people make it.
"Cool we are famous with a community of 13 year old autistics THAT MEANS WE SHOULD HAVE A VIDYA GAEM DEDICATED TO OURSELVES"
Wait, so the game in the video is the alpha for their new game? If so. Are the Yogscast seriously making a Minecraft clone? Never thought I'd see that.

We aren't programmers or artists but luckily we have close friends at Winterkewl Games who are. They are a team of talented indie developers based in and around Hollywood, California. Their artists and programmers are long-time veterans of film and game companies including Dreamworks Animation and LucasFilm - working at the highest levels of production.
Are they still (justifiably) bitter about notch being an asshole towards them? I only ask because of the "in your face NOTCH" comment at the end.
"Cool we are famous with a community of 13 year old autistics THAT MEANS WE SHOULD HAVE A VIDYA GAEM DEDICATED TO OURSELVES"
The fact that they even have a following is a mystery to me.
Also I checked out that indie dev they are working with: Can't wait.
There is a point where this kickstarter nonsense needs to stop, and clearly we have passed it.
Nah man, kickstarter is still a great way for indie devs to fund their projects. It's just that a lot less serious people are getting their hands on the idea and are exploiting it. Just like any good idea that involves money.
On the kickstarter page:
This project will only be funded if at least $250,000 is pledged by Sunday May 6, 3:23pm EDT.
Does this mean the kickstarter.com people just run off with any money donated if it doesn't reach the required amount? Seems like bullshit to me...
No it means it's all refunded if they don't make that much.
The fact that they even have a following is a mystery to me.
Are you kidding me? They release informative videos about betas for upcoming games.
On the kickstarter page: Does this mean the kickstarter.com people just run off with any money donated if it doesn't reach the required amount? Seems like bullshit to me...
Oh dear no.
Every Kickstarter project must be fully funded before its time expires or no money changes hands.
I'm gonna do a Kickstarter for my project:drinkmyselffuckingsilly
Oh god no.
Why is everyone so negative about this? I found it a bit weird myself, but if they take they time to do it properly it could become quite an interesting game. They are not making a minecraft clone. They just wanna have a go at making their own game. If it turns out bad so be it. What happened to not caring about games that are not made for you?
I still think the whole trend should be taken with a grain of salt. Allowing indie devs to get game funds is great and all, but this comes with a price. Quality control. There is no quality control in a system that is basically entirely ran by fans and their donations rather than a profit organization. Sales & expanses and all that corporate nonsense. Essentially, a half-assed 'game designer' could amass millions for his 'epic for the win' project, end up shitting out a completely terrible product that didn't live up to the fans' expectations at all and waltz off with several million dollars in his pocket. And no one can really do a damn thing about it because the donators gave their money away willingly.
Don't let a few rotten developers and their half-baked promises set the precedent for what potential Kickstarter may have in funding game projects. It's simply too early to rule out Kickstarter all together. I'm slightly curious to see this play out, knowing that they have wide spread yet inhumanly retarded fanbase will lead to some delicious drama when this doesn't work out.
They make so much fucking money from youtube already the greedy cunts.
I don't even find them that entertaining.
Why the fuck do they need 250,000 for a shitty indie game.
Watch, it's just going to be another game based around building things with blocks and mining.
They hardly deserve the money, and holy shit, 250,000? Yeeeeah nope, thats a load of money for a terrible looking game.
Wish em' luck, but I honestly don't think it's going to turn out good or go anywhere far.
I just got into a long argument with my friend about this. Apparently, in his eyes, it costs over $10,000 to make a shitty game that had no effort put into it at all, when games like Minecraft and Counter-Strike don't matter, even though they were made on a budget that you could easily pull out of your wallet.
I made the terrible, terrible mistake of commenting in the comment section.
You can hire an entire team of developers to make an app for about $10,000. $50,000 would of been acceptable for a PC game.
Oh sweet jesus no

Shit out crappy game for 50 thousand, keep 200 thousand for themselves. Its genius really.
I am going to make a video to raise awareness for these internet criminals. YOGSCAST 2012
