None of the children in School No. 263 at the time were hurt, said Karina Sabitova, a police spokeswoman at the scene. The school is for children in grades one through 11, as is typical in Russia. The student gunman also seriously wounded a second police officer who had responded to an alarm from the school, police said. Such shootings in Russian schools are extremely rare, but Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin called for full review of security systems in city schools in light of the attack. A school security guard was unable to stop the armed teenager from entering, but managed to hit an alarm before following him to his classroom, the spokesman for Russia's main investigative agency said. It was not immediately clear whether the security guard was armed. The student fatally shot the teacher and opened fire on police officers who responded to the alarm, Vladimir Markin, spokesman for the Investigative Committee, said in a statement. Mr Markin said the student fired at least 11 times from a small-calibre rifle, Russian news agencies reported. He said the boy was an excellent student and apparently had had an emotional breakdown. Investigators were questioning him, his classmates and the security guard, the spokesman said. The student was also carrying a carbine, a short-barreled rifle, Moscow police chief Anatoly Yakunin said, according to Russian news agencies. Both rifles belonged to his father and were legally registered, he said. Gun ownership is legal in Russia but weapons need to be registered.
http://www.news.com.au/world/russian-police-confirm-a-gunman-has-been-disarmed-after-he-took-students-hostage-in-moscow-shot-policeman-and-teacher-dead/story-fndir2ev-1226817000566
This is just sad, it's sad that it went so far that the student felt the need to use violence. I feel with the teacher and police officer's families.
The way you have the title worded it sounds like it shot an already dead policeman and teacher. In all seriousness though, It's sad to see this kind of crap happen and I hope the best for the families.
A hostage situation and a school shooting, Russia has it rough today
A hostage situation and a school shooting, Russia has it rough today
Also it's so close to the Winter Olympics, not very good
Also it's so close to the Winter Olympics, not very good
The entire stadium they're building has a foundation of shitty circumstances, it's like it's cursed. The only thing worse that could happen is another Munich massacre.
While this is sad, this thread is late http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1358381
These are 2 separate incidents
Really? Shit its a bad day in Russia then, and only a few days from the olympics to boot
Can Russia get a break already?
Really? Shit its a bad day in Russia then, and only a few days from the olympics to boot
I'm scared for the people going to the Olympics. Something terrible is just bound to happen I mean, look at this shit http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1354002 There are probably security flaws all over the place
At least they were already dead when he shot them.
These are 2 separate incidents
Except not really. I double checked, this just has more correct information, while my news feed had false information from bystanders (especially the moment about it being someone's father while turning out to be a 10th grader)

It's one of those cases where I'm glad I was wrong
Sigh, my country is always several years late with all the cool trends. [editline]3rd February 2014[/editline] Literally the last thing we need. :v:
You've seriously never heard the term "shot dead" before?
its how the sentence is written, ideally it should be this instead : Student armed with rifles kills policeman and teacher at Moscow school
I read both articles and one was about a student and the other was about the father of a student and I thought these were different schools. It's one of those cases where I'm glad I was wrong
It was allegedly father, but it turned out to be a dispute about the golden medal between a student and geography teacher

You think you've seen trash? Take the 15 freeway. Or any freeway for that matter. Don't try the carpool lanes, even though they may be clear, they always have pieces of tires in them and ruts in the road from the almost constant road construction.
