*facepalm*
First of all, Left 4 Dead is not a sports game. Sports games can pull that shit off because every year the team change, like T.O. in buffalo. Plus they could add and remove some stuff as a test.
(One and a half-ly: Comparing an animal to a tree is the basic point of this comic, only changed was the game genres.)
Secondly, Left 4 Dead 2 changed every thing, that was weirdly DLC for l4d, but with new characters.
$50 dollars (bascially) new characters? Uh-oh. But the boycott isn't about that. (You should look it up before you rage. Good pointers that l4d1 forgot, and NO i will not describe my feeling on it)
Thirdly, l4d wasn't that great. Honestly, i played for a week, getting through the campaigns, playing some online, but no new stuff came out to appeal to me, so i stopped. From repetition.
4thly, the DLC. A few moons ago, a new campaign came out. Just one. So there's a good 2 hours of gameplay. So, heh, i have to wait until a new game comes out, for it's worthless counter-parts DLC to come out? Oh boy.
Conclooue-tion: Don't release a game after your promises are fucked up, even before you say you have a promise.
If you don't like something, don't whine about it to everyone you meet, just don't buy it. Why boycott a game and possibly ruin it for those who like the series? All I have to say is this, would you like some cheese with that whine?
Haha "Now with two scoops of black people"
are you ranting about the comic or l4d

Did Ctrl+Alt+Del finally give up on being funny and become a serious comic?
Because it can't do that right either. :rimshot:
Yeah because when characters are changed in a sports game its normal but when its changed in l4d 2 and new weapons were added there is a crysis ?
Also its not comparing a plant to an animal, its like comparing 2 spicies of animals (Ie. Alligator vs a bird) .
What? I bought l4d as the game it was when it was released. It's not a subscription game, and I didn't pay £500 for it, so anything extra added (extra campaigns etc.) are just a bonus.
Are you expecting Valve to work for free for you, just because you bought something from them once?
That isn't how it works, how about you are paid one months wage by your employer and then have to work for the rest of your life for nothing, how does that make any sense? Because that's basically what you are suggesting.
And it is the same as the sports games, just replace 'new sports teams' with 'new characters'. Plus, how is it any different to an expansion pack to an existing game, or some DLC? Expansions regularly cost $50 dollars, and they're expansions, which you need to buy the original game to run, this is a standalone game and it's the same price.
Valve have always been extremely good to us (too good actually, they do a hell of alot of work for nothing) when it comes to DLC's, especially considering how cheap their games are in the first place. Boycotting a game which comes above industry average in terms of value for money just because Valve have been super good to us in the past is just stupid.
Think about it, I paid £12.49 for TF2, and for at least two or three years now I've been getting content upgrades, probably equivalent to thousands of manhours work on Valve's end altogether, for free. That's stupidly good value for money and complaining about that seems to me to be extremely selfish.
I agree with Hivemind, and I will reiterate my previous statement, if you don't like it, don't buy it.
Wrong section rant on a topic that has long since been settled on Facepunch
:waycool:
I wholeheartedly agree with Hivemind. Valve has done many great things for the gaming community, yet you decide to whine about them making a sequel? It has what can be expected from a sequel, and more. New characters, new campaigns, new setting, new weapons, new zombies, I'm assuming some different multi-player settings.
Also, Left 4 Dead 1 was a great game. I think you're just upset because you got killed too much.

Well the DLC in TF2 provided huge boost in sales because they do a free weekend/50% off.
By the way the boycott is over, and if you're one of the "NO IT CONTINUES!!!" bunch then I'll just point out that no one cares about the boycott anymore.
I still wonder why people complain about there only being 5 campaigns when anyone can make their own with free authoring tools.

The boycott was a bunch of idiots who thought little was changing. Now that more info is released, most of the boycott members have seen that it's different, and stopped boycotting.
From what I heard on Hard News (screwattack) Valve invited the two leaders of the boycott to their office and showed them all the stuff they where working on to ease their doubts.
I don't mind people being against things, but sometimes their are better 'causes to tackle then a video game. To much noise for something which isn't all that important.
As for the comic itself, well it's not always going to please you, can't agree or love everything they do.
L4D2 is about to come out, I think it's time people get over it and move on, if you're not going to buy it don't if you are do. It's you're choice.

Urm, how does that anything to do with the DLC, they could have done that anyway. The fact is that you're still getting free updates, they could easily have made money by selling the DLC's as expansions, or even some monthly charge, but they didn't.
I'll bet running steam is comparable in operational cost to running WoW servers, or any other MMORPG (per head.) With MMO's you pay a monthly fee for use of their servers (steam's download system is free for life), minor updates (free for life with steam), pay for expansion packs (L4D2 being the 'expansion' here, this hardly seems unfair.) £12 for life service seems like a bargain.
I agree that the comic is shit (ctrl+alt+del always is) but not with any of your points.
Mostly frats that think sports games make your TV cool buy them annually.
And I never liked L4D to start with, and don't care what they do with the franchise.
You can easily pay over $100 for a console game and all the map packs and downloadable contents
Was there this level of complaint about Halo: ODST?
I don't like the comparison to Madden.
"After all, EA makes repetitive shit and people buy it. Why shouldn't YOU buy repackaged copies of games?"
...of course I'm still buying L4D2. :3:
Why does Tim Buckley assume that I buy sports games
God he's such an idiot
Rated dumb for posting a Ctrl-Alt-Del comic
Everyone knows Ctrl+Alt+Del is beyond terrible. You've not made any stunning revelations.
Also, the argument in the comic is invalid, because it assumes gamers buy every year's sports game. Which we don't.
OP.
Please, for our sakes and babies everywhere.
Get.
The.
Fuck.
Out.
That is all.
Even if it's CAD, I still agree. The point is you shouldn't expect the shit for free, and bitch when you don't get it for free. Makes sense to me.

Ctrl+alt+del is stupid by itself, you don't have to tell us that.
