Russia has spoken: The Sochi (Сочи) 2014 Winter Games mascots have been chosen. Meet The Hare, Polar Bear, and the Leopard.

The Hare: She figure-skates. She has a squeaky voice. She's butt-naked. That said, Sochi is most famous as a summer resort.
Polar Bear: He looks somewhat out of shape, but has a few years to train. Nice scarf, though. Canadians may call him a Quatchi knock-off.
Leopard: Blatantly geared towards younger winter sports fans. He's got a snowboard and a swimmer's physique. In his presentation video, Leopard does a lot of fast-talking and posing with the board... but no actual riding. Just like a lot of boarders out there. I'm just saying.
The other finalists were Grandfather Frost, Sun, Brown Bear, Dolphin, Bullfinch, and a Curling Snowman, which is more cool the more you think about it. Russians voted via SMS, and the winners were announced live on Channel One.Russian Paralympic Committee general secretary Mikhail Terentiev said of Ray of Light ("Flame Boy") and Snowflake, "The story of our fantastic mascots is that they arrived from a far-out planet and that they have infinite potential". Terentiev reiterated his pride at Russia's first-ever hosting of a Paralympics. (Sochi 2014 Mascot Announcement) So, what do you think? Are these the mascots to inspire confidence during the buildup to Sochi 2014? I don't know about you, but I think thats terrible.
ZING! The CGI scares me though. :ohdear:
Yea, it's not so good as it could be. But don't forget that it was made for live show where it was included into the video in realtime.
Dude that trippy blue thing would have been the coolest mascot ever.
Much better than the fucking ugly London Olympic games mascots.
The rabbit looks like it stood in the middle of the freeway and got hit by a motherfucking freightliner before steeping up to the stage
The Heavy should be the mascot.
Why didn't ZOI4 win!
why do olympic mascots always look soo fucking weird?
why do olympic mascots always look soo fucking weird?
Yeah, the English 2012 ones are fucked up, They even had some fucked up names too, I can't remember them though.
Before the election night , Putin said he likes Leopard.
Yeah, the English 2012 ones are fucked up, They even had some fucked up names too, I can't remember them though.
Wenlock and Mandeville. They look like someone opened a 3d modeling program and just clicked randomly and saved it. The less said about them the better. The logo for the 2012 Olympics is terrible as well, I wonder if they were designed by the same people.. I think the organizers managed to make every single mascot (past and future) look great by using those things.
was watching this few days ago on tv. 1TV (OPT). Was funny.
btw, this mascot was leading in internet voting but didn't made it to the final:
Clever design but too weird for the general populace I suppose. [editline]27th February 2011[/editline] Did they use the same technology as that hologram hatsune miku or what?

All you need is a reference spot on the floor for the computer to use and you can overlay 3D content over a video feed. I beleive that hatsune concert used fine fabric mesh to project onto. I forget now as I didn't really care.
Oh that makes much more sense.
some videos:
5,000,000 dollars into designing, animating, and voicing the rabbit. 5 dollars into animating the screen behind her. Also, Benzaie?
