Ok , so we all know they sound great and I was thinking we could share our scales to improve our knowledge and capability.
Pentatonic
I only know pentatonic, and my guitar teacher tells me I need to learn chords, so that's all I know.
Learn these in Major and Minor and you're ready for everything.

Standard scale

Pentatonic/Blues

Harmonic

Spanish (optional)
I'd recommend learning some positions of the major scale first and then learning the modes like, phrygian, mixolydian, ionian, lydian etc. Harmonic minors never hurt either.
Lydian and Mixolydian
i enjoy playin major pentatonic when listnin to indie cus it has a softer sound to it
but for rock and that the minor pentatonic is made for it
For piano I try to stick to Major and Minor harmonic. Occasionally entering the dark realms of minor melodic, but not for too long. ;)
Why not learn how to construct scales instead of learning certain ones.

Same, but including the blues scale, and other modes like mixolydian, dorian and phrygian.
Harmonic minor is pretty cool.
I know Pentatonic and Blues. Same thing really but.

This.
Harmonic minor can be stereotyped as the "egyptian sounding scale."
It sounds awesome though.
Can be used really creepy or shredded to death by the likes of Paul Gilbert for example.
Whole Tone
Major/Minor scale (b6 & b7)
Two of my favorites are
Hirojoshi
and
Harmonic Minor
And an honourable mention to the Ichikosucho. The first scale I learned back in the day. I used to play around with it endlessly.
I usually try to not stick with a scale, but pentatonic minor is too easy to make anything sound good with.

Hmm, I haven't heard of Hirojoshi or Ichikosucho. Could you tell me the notes?
Hirojoshi is the Japanese scale in E, and Ichikosucho is the same scale in C.

It depends entirely on what key you want it in. Atleast for the hirojoshi. I could give you 15 patterns each for 8 or so different keys. Hirojoshi is a 5 tone scale.
Here is a Hirojoshi pattern I use in the key of B flat if I remember correctly:
e---------------------------------------------13-14-18-------------
B------------------------------------------14-------------------------
G-----------------------------11-15-17-----------------------------
D-------------------------15------------------------------------------
A------------13-15-16----------------------------------------------
E---13-14------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The most common I used for Ichikosucho is this if I remember correctly:
e-------------------------------------5-7-8---
B-------------------------------5-6------------
G----------------------2-4-5------------------
D----------------2-3---------------------------
A--------0-2-3--------------------------------
E---0-1----------------------------------------
I didn't learn too much about the Ichikosucho scale. So that is the only pattern I remember.
