What a joke. Game isn't out yet and we already have DLC...

Yeah could you imagine if we lived in a world where pre-order DLC was common practice!

You must not be familiar with CA

to be fair it's a preorder bonus that isn't "get stuff that should've been in the game in the first place". the bonuses aren't part of the story, they're a few completely separate levels that let you essentially play a section or two of the film the game is based on. which imo is one heck of an incentive
if more preorder bonuses were like this instead of things that were explicitly cut from the game in the first place and sold back to the consumers seperately i'd imagine people wouldn't be so hostile towards DLC in general
they all looked so lifeless

Oh seems I might have thought different then. My apology guys.

No no, don't back down. I agree. Why couldn't they have made it a bonus mission you can uncover by playing the main game? I think it'd be more hype to generate buzz with an unexpected surprise.
Just image: you beat the game, roll credits, suddenly familar lines of dialog, fade in from black and you're on the ship in a cutscene with all the characters.

I'm not paying $59.99 to take a chance on a game just for this DLC. It looks cool, but I'd rather wait for the GOTY version than risk the game being bad or broken.
I'm not gonna pre-order, but if the game is good I'd definitely want to buy this if it was long enough.
I hope they don't lock it to pre-orders only

But it IS cut from the game. When you pay 60 dollars to buy a game, you're paying for all of the cost to make the game, like salaries, plus their profit. In order to make this DLC, they took people off of making the actual game to make this DLC instead, meaning you're basically paying for their salaries twice over, once when you buy the game, and again when you buy this DLC. DLC made after the game's release is a completely different story, because their dev costs weren't included in the original game's price, but this is just double dipping to make lodsofemone,
The $60 standard has been around for years. Realistically with inflation it should have gone up by now anyway.
it shouldn't go up because the price of games is the price people are willing to pay for them
60 is a tough sell these days even still, if it went to 70, even slowly encroaching to that, it would hurt the industry
I agree, but even still, I'm saying based on the pricing scheme of the past day one dlc isn't really screwing the user out of anything new. I myself rarely pay over $50 for games.
The $60 standard has been around for years. Realistically with inflation it should have gone up by now anyway.
Iunno about you, but most people I know won't pay $60 for a game anymore. The industry could sell these titles at half that price with the amount of effort they're putting into them.

Exactly. Why do we overcomplicate stuff like this?
More content = more money, that's just a fact

DLC is usually done after the main story so no effort is being under or over represented in any way
This barely passes as DLC, it's just additional content on-disk for pre-ordering
Unless someone gets a stock disk and roots around and finds the pre-order assets, stop assuming that they just "lock" content in games for more money
imo this shouldn't be a DLC. It should be part of the core game.
How does it fit the narrative? Flashback sequence? Would feel hella shoehorned
imo this shouldn't be a DLC. It should be part of the core game.
while we're at it lets live in happy rainbow land where games don't cost money to make
How does it fit the narrative? Flashback sequence? Would feel hella shoehorned
It doesn't, it's just an extra bonus mission
It doesn't, it's just an extra bonus mission
Was replying to guy above me
Go ahead and lynch me for saying this
This never would of been made if Pre-order DLC or if DLC didn't exist
Game is also $50 on steam btw
Yeah could you imagine if we lived in a world where pre-order DLC was common practice!
That doesn't make it okay.

It's better, but it's still bad. All pre-order DLC is basically saying "Oh if you don't want to buy this game before you really know if it's any good yet, you won't get this"
they all looked so lifeless
Yeah, but if anything that's a good sign, it means they are focusing their attention on the main game and only threw together some simple bonus DLC as an incentive to preorder, yet nothing that's over the top taking away or cutting from the main game if you don't want to preorder.
The $60 standard has been around for years. Realistically with inflation it should have gone up by now anyway.
Considering how watered down and how incomplete games are now, $60 sounds about right once you account for inflation. You also have services like Battlefield that make you pay an additional $60 just to get access to DLC shit that should have been in the game on release.
The $60 standard has been around for years. Realistically with inflation it should have gone up by now anyway.
what a canard
that would only be true if the quality or amount of content in a game had stayed constant
(it hasnt)
In other words, prepare for a downgrade!
it's CA so i wouldn't really expect that tbh
[editline]10th July 2014[/editline]
that said it's CA so it's not worth preordering because the game will probably be unplayable when it comes out
[editline]10th July 2014[/editline]
not that anything is worth preordering
what a canard

I don't know if I'd be comfortable making the sweeping claim that AAA games have as a whole declined in quality. I've always attributed my playing them less just to my own tastes shifting. Though yeah, this game in particular seems pretty small for a $50 price tag. I'd say hold out for Routine but they seemingly vanished.

I wish games were worth 60 dollars here.
In Australia, new games are $90-$110. No, neither the cost of living or the minimum wage accomadate for this.
"It's genuinely been great to see the reaction to The Crew Expendable and Last Survivor pre-order bonus content we announced yesterday and how excited you all are to re-experience those classic scenes from the original movie with our Alien. It's been absolutely amazing for us at the Studio.
However, some of you have been asking if the two pieces of content are only available through pre-order or if we'll be releasing them at a later date as well.
So, I can confirm today that we do plan to release both Crew Expendable and Last Survivor at a later date and we'll have more details for you guys on that shortly.
Best, Nee."
