Hello, I am curios what everyone thinks is the cause of terrorism?
1- What is the cause of terrorism in regions like Iraq, as it is known by the news coverage of the past years after the invasion and occupation of that nation by the USA, with UN support, that there are many acts of terrorism (and insurgency, yet insurgents tended to receive less news coverage)?
2- What is the cause of terrorist acts in developed nations, such as Spain, France, and the United States (ex1- 9/11/2001 multiple planes were hijacked and hit the now destroyed twin towers in NY, NY and hit the Pentagon/ ex2 In France a terrorist group attempted to hijack a plane, yet it was stopped by the GIGN)? This can be relative to older times (please, at least stay the 20th century), but please state that.

Jealousy? They are a more poverty stricken country and rather than actually do something to help their own cause they decide to attack the people that are in better shape then them so they can hopefully bring them down.

Usually religious extremism + divisive political issues that result in a large population of disgruntled citizens to form a base for recruitment
Terrorism isn't some ideology. Nothing specific causes it. It's simply groups or peoples who do not have the ability to wage full scale conventional warfare, therefore reverting to insurgency and low-profile, high-risk, high-damage attacks.
I mean, we throw the term around like the western world did with Communism back in the 50s-80s. It's not like there's a Terrorist Party or Terrorist State.
It has been proven that if a foreign force occupies a nation that the populace will fight back, specificly with terrorism to the invader...
That is my thought on #1

Yeah I guess its this. I wouldn't agree with "Nothing specific causes it" though.
Its the U.S.'s hegemony.
Everyone's just referring to Arabs and to their insurgencies and groups, but so-called domestic terrorists aren't often religious extremists or 'pissed-off Muslims'. Like I said, it's not an ideology.
