Your Nokia Lumia 1020 has a 41MP image sensor and ZEISS optics? That’s cute – so does the Hyetis Crossbow smartwatch. The watch has a Swiss-made movement and that’s the only thing that will remain constant – Hyetis is promising to update the rest as time goes on.
Is this really necessary?
Necessity isn't a property of 90% of todays products.
It's core of kapitalism really.
sweden always makes the best watches
I thought it was going to be a crossbow
I thought it was going to be a crossbow
Yeah I'm kind of disappointed it's not a wrist mounted crossbow with a camera.

This is Switzerland...not Sweden.
I expected some sort of James Bond dart launching watch with a Zeiss Z-Point sight attached.

God fucking damnit don't explicitly promise the consumers a better future product than the one currently available, your sales might tank due to people holding out.
I am disappointed that it's not an actual crossbow.
Sounds like something that men who enjoy taking pictures of women in public would be interested in.
With my birthday coming up next month I thought it would be perfect until I saw :
The Hyetis Crossbow will soon be available for pre-order for $1,200 and should ship later this year
I was expecting it to be $20k+ considering the price of most high end watches.
It's surprisingly cheap.
The promised battery life is 4 days, which sounds near impossible for the form factor and all those radios.
What a useless watch.
So where is an actualy picture or video of this camera?
who the fuck wants this. I mean seriously it's useless and gaudy.
Really cool actually hopefully some rich guy posts a video on youtube.

well a high end DSLR is more than double the price (about $3000) of this watch, while only having half the megapixels (around 22, compared to 41), so this is definitely a worthwhile purchase, especially for any pro photographers :)

Except "pro photographers" don't really care about megapixels.

it's the most important variable when it comes to image quality, friend
They matter to a certain extent (~18-20) but there are some crucial things like low-light performance, dynamic range, the quality of the optics which are not guaranteed by simply having a very high resolution sensor.

On the other hand the 41 megapixel sensor is justified here since you can't put a high-power zoom lens on a watch (or a phone for that matter). Comparing it to a DSLR based on a single fact is still silly.

I would like to assume that you are trolling but in case you are not: megapixels do matter. They are the maximum achievable resolution. BUT megapixels alone don't mean anything. I could take a 5 megapixel picture and upscale it to 100 megapixels. But would it gain detail? What matters more is the sensor size and the lens.

Go look at the Nokia Lumia 1020.

Your Hyetis Crossbow Smartwatch has a big camera and zeiss optics? That's cute. The Nokia Lumia can GPS Navigate and stream movies wirelessly.
I saw Zeiss and knowing they make rifle scopes, I was immediately confused.
I'm still confused. Probably because I don't like watches. :(

They do a lot of things.
I've actually worked with one of their industrial measurement systems during a summer job a few years ago (one of these).
Reminds me of this really odd watch I had maybe 10 or 12 years ago; it was a black and white camera (no more than 120x120 px) complete with a shitty little screen.

Took a ton of pictures with it, most of which were largely useless because of the resolution and lack of color. I remember raising it up into the window into the girls' changing room a lot though.
Zeiss lenses are some of the finest prosumer and semi professional lenses around. They're no Cooke, but they're amazing lenses none the less and do quite a lot of good work in that field. I have a feeling a camera like this won't be impressive, but having Zeiss make a lens for it is good news for them.
I feel like the person who is in the market for a camera and had the money to afford this would probably buy an actual DSLR, and a person who had this kind of money searching for a nice watch would probably be shopping for a Rolex or an Omega. I have no idea what market this is appealing to.
Wrong. Optics and sensor quality are.
Does NOBODY here understand sarcasm anymore?
