Strange name. And an extremely lacking expansion compared to previous HoI expansions, not even a timeline extension.
Starting WW3 directly after WW2 was half of the fun. I could never finish WW3 because the time line was to short, it was perfect in HOI2 to lenghen the timeline with like 4 years. Most of The changelist is the stuff that I`d expect in a patch
wish all that stuff wasn't expansion specific since people have been complaining about the theatres since the release, organization is a mess, air warfare wasn't a major strategy, victory conditions never existed, 1940 is an expected timeline, and historical events are a bit lax so it's a bit dumb releasing this as an expansion while the main game remains buggy and frustrating without it
buggy and frustrating
Elaborate.
I have been checking out the Hearts of Iron games for quite some time, it seems interesting yet at the same time it's not. It seems like it's going to be like the Total War series, minus the awesome real time battles, instead you will just see a box saying "YOU WON!"
Elaborate.
theatres have NEVER worked as they were intended and now that the devs have actually fixed it they are making us pay for it so we are stuck with the frustrating theatre system which doesn't actually work properly, AI is horrible without the expansion, organisation is frustrating to use, obsolete units just stagnate and get used as cannon fodder without the expansion, AI America does shit all in WW2, missing out 1940 timeline means you can only play the game before WW2 or just before it ends, theatres are automated and can't actually be manually created, sized and selected, command hierarchy has been frustrating to keep track of without the expansion need I list more reasons or is it not COMPLETELY OBVIOUS to you yet
It's a shame that many of the features of this expansion are better off as patch fixes. Didn't Paradox say every time they release an expansion they stop making further patches for the vanilla game?

I'm intrigued.
I've been wondering when they'd be releasing the steam version sheesh.
the main game remains buggy and frustrating without it
What are you talking about? Game plays perfectly well for me save for some minor spikes every once and a while. The military aspect of Hearts of Iron is always that of the operational and strategic level. Making it having real-time tactical battles would be pointless and there are other games that do it.
