So Facepunchers i'd like to describe for you an event that occured last night. My friend Mike, whom i love very much, has been wanting to hang out since last week but i've been busy so i haven't been able to hang out. I told him on friday that i'd hang out with him on monday and tuesday, forgetting that i had made prior plans. He told me last night that he's done with me and then tried to kill himself, but fortunetly couldn't go through with it. He procceded to blame me for the reason he's gonna kill himself. He says i neglect him, which isn't the case. I don't know what to do. It's not neglect it's just that i've had plans and i'm not as free scheduled as i used to be. I didn't sleep much last night. Anyone care to help a kid thats afraid of losing a friend?

I'd show your friend what happens when someone kills themselves.
My Grandad done it. He thought it would be quick. He suffered emensly and was a complete mess afterwards. It is not bravem, and it is not dignified in the slightest.
He selfishly ruined the lives of his kids and traumatised his family in a moment of madness. I cant give advice in your situation, but if anyone ever threatens to kill themselves infront of me again i'll do what i did last time and hand them the knife.
People do not attempt to kill themselves, they do it. It isnt difficult. And those who use it as a threat are weak and cowardly. Your friend either needs psychological help which isnt your repsonsibility to provide, or he needs a slap.

I strongly disagree with this. This "friend" does not have the right to get everyone to bend to his whim because otherwise, he'll threaten suicide and blame everyone else for his problems. He sounds manipulative and it is absolutely not the OP's fault if he threatens to kill himself, especially over something so trivial, like canceling plans to hang out together. It is never your responsibility to keep someone from taking their life. If you believe they're serious, you call the authorities and give them a chance to get help, but you absolutely do not bend over backwards to enable them.
