He had just explained to the reporter riding along that he wanted no role in a Trump administration when news arrived of a new poll naming him as the best liked of a list of potential running mates. “Who else was on the list?” he asked quietly, maintaining his usual inscrutable calm. The most favorably regarded contenders after himself, he was told, were John Kasich, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin and Chris Christie. “Those are all people on our list,” he said. “Well, not you,” Candy reminded him sharply. That the Trump campaign might want their potential VP picks held close to the vest didn’t seem to occur to Carson. He’s not the type to keep his candid thoughts to himself.
I would laugh, cry, and die simultaneously if Kasich, Rubio, or Cruz accept the the VP bid. The most likely candidate is Chris Christie considering that Trump has that poor man on a leash form all the shit I'm seeing of him.
Imagine Palin as his VP
Trump with Palin as VP. Now there's something that's equal parts nightmarish and hilarious.
Please anybody but Palin or Cruz for the love of god
President Trump with VP Cruz. Like being shot and poisoned.
Palin is too busy with her upcoming tv court show.
Why the fuck would they consider Palin AGAIN? She already ruined one guy's path to presidency why the fuck would she be on the ticket a second time.
Why the fuck would they consider Palin AGAIN? She already ruined one guy's path to presidency why the fuck would she be on the ticket a second time.
honestly if it was mccain and anybody else he would have been president.
A Trump/Palin 2016 ticket would surely be a sign of the end times.
Why the fuck would they consider Palin AGAIN? She already ruined one guy's path to presidency why the fuck would she be on the ticket a second time.
You can never have too much crazy, right?
I like how he's selected all of his past major primary competitors... except Bush.
Why would you even have Palin after she single handily destroyed McCain's shot at the presidency
honestly if it was mccain and anybody else he would have been president.
No he wouldn't, the entire reason he went for Palin was that he was losing moderately badly and needed something surprising to try and shift the race, so mistakenly chose Palin with little vetting done.
I know you're all going to fly into a rage and call me an idiot but I liked Sarah Palin a lot I think the the media tore her apart and ruined her image more than anything.
I know you're all going to fly into a rage and call me an idiot but I liked Sarah Palin a lot I think the the media tore her apart and ruined her image more than anything.
Not exactly flying into a rage but... why? I mean the media tore her apart because she constantly said crazy things, what actual positive qualities does she have?
Not exactly flying into a rage but... why? I mean the media tore her apart because she constantly said crazy things, what actual positive qualities does she have?
All I ever saw was her say relatively mundane stuff the media twisted and ran full page articles of to make her look like an idiot. Like when she said "I can see Russia from my kitchen window" or whatever, which to me is clearly a metaphor because she lived in Alaska which is geographically close to Russia and was making that reference while talking about whatever she was talking about. But than the news ran articles all shitting on her over and over again because apparently she retarded and genuinely thinks Russia lives right down the road from her and she accidentally gets their mail or something. Or the fact her Daughter had a kid without a father or whatever. It's such a non issue but they never stopped bringing it up. The media always warps presidential candidates. Look at Bernie or Trump and some of the stuff they say about them, it's the reason Colin Powell didn't run for president he didn't want them to smear him and his wife. I thought he would've been an excellent president but he didn't want to play into the media circus.
You know, knowing how fucking batshit insane this election is (and the stupid shit Trump has said) I honestly don't see how Palin could damage his campaign. If anything they'd just play it off with a laugh.
Trump with Palin as VP. Now there's something that's equal parts nightmarish and hilarious.
It's like that one boss and minion combo in a show that is incredibly bad at everything and just unpleasant, but still managed to be "the villain of the arc" because they are strong enough to beat the heroes and boss around the bad guy side, until one of the good guys obliterates them in one hit after some fucked up training.
"accidentally"
All I ever saw was her say relatively mundane stuff the media twisted and ran full page articles of to make her look like an idiot. But than the news ran articles all shitting on her over and over again because apparently she retarded and genuinely thinks Russia lives right down the road from her and she accidentally gets their mail or something.
I asked what positive qualities does she have, not why she "maybe isn't as retarded as people think". Keep in mind, however that quote might have been taken out of context she once said "But obviously, we've got to stand with our North Korean allies".
Or the fact her Daughter had a kid without a father or whatever. It's such a non issue but they never stopped bringing it up.
It's not a non-issue because it's her second kid born out of wedlock and she's an advocate for abstinence. It's not that she's unmarried and has a kid, it's that she's advocating a "birth control" method that could not be working for her any less.
The media always warps presidential candidates. Look at Bernie or Trump and some of the stuff they say about them, it's the reason Colin Powell didn't run for president he didn't want them to smear him and his wife. I thought he would've been an excellent president but he didn't want to play into the media circus.
Again I'm aware the media will make a candidate look bad but I wasn't asking "how does the media make them look worse", I was asking what legitimate positive qualities you see. Nothing about the media.
I know you're all going to fly into a rage and call me an idiot but I liked Sarah Palin a lot I think the the media tore her apart and ruined her image more than anything.
The media really did hit her hard for her many (many many) embarrassing gaffes, but there are some issues that she really wasn't that bad on - and many others that she was fucking abhorrent on. She vetoed a bill in Alaska that would have prevented gay couples from receiving benefits, calling it unconstitutional - even though she was very much in favor of "traditional marriage." Early in her position she opposed it, but she adapted - speaking out against attempts to prevent gay couples from getting equal benefits to straight ones (even without technical "marriage"). She was an enormous disability rights activist. She opposed Bush's abstinence education plan and defended non-explicit "contraceptive education" to teach kids how to have safe sex, calling condom-application demonstrations "benign." She was in favor of recognizing MLK day and recognizing Juneteenth as the end of slavery. As mayor, she rejected propositions to close city bars earlier than 5AM. She opposes marijuana legalization, but has spoken out that it isn't her business to get in the way of a doctor's prescription to a patient, hinting some support for medical. She was very very insistent on increasing education funding, even though I disagree with her support for teaching creationism alongside evolution. She set goals to make 50% of Alaska be on renewable energy. but then she opposes abortion even in the case of rapes, going so far to say that she'd pick life even if her own daughter was raped. Like what. Like, I disagree with her fundamentally on a lot of issues, but for a "social conservative" pick she's a goddamn saint in comparison to Bachmann and the other lunatics who count as "social conservatives" nowadays. She's a moderate-right Republican in the current political climate. [editline]15th May 2016[/editline]
It's not a non-issue because it's her second kid born out of wedlock and she's an advocate for abstinence. It's not that she's unmarried and has a kid, it's that she's advocating a "birth control" method that could not be working for her any less.
She's not really an advocate for abstinence in the traditional Bush-era sense, AKA "just tell kids sex is bad and that they shouldn't do it or they'll go to hell." She advocated for abstinence education, yeah, but with a important qualifier that she was fine with "contraceptive education" and sex ed that wasn't "explicit." So, the traditional condom on a cucumber? She called that "relatively benign" and not explicit. She isn't even opposed to contraceptives necessarily. Compared to Bush, her position on sex ed is way less conservative. It's still bad, but it's sorta dishonest to say she was an "advocate for abstinence" despite showing hesitation when the GOP pushed abstinence education during the Bush era.

Do you know anything about her beyond what happened in the SNL sketch?
Keep in mind, however that quote might have been taken out of context she once said "But obviously, we've got to stand with our North Korean allies".
People misspeak all the time. Like that time Obama "admits" to training ISIS As far as pros for her the above poster has a couple but I generally thought she had a lot of experience and when I would watch what she had to say it felt mostly positive to me. Like it's been years since she's been on the political stage like this so things could have changed. And in regards to birth control and religion I doubt you'll ever find a Republican who doesn't have some radical or naive view of those topics. It's just how it is. I may not agree with them myself but they have to be representive of their voters who usually share those same opinions. In practice though I'm pretty sure she takes relatively moderate stances on religion, sexual education and civil rights.
So Palin really? I mean she IS the perfect nutjob for him, she will always agree with what Trump says but seriously? She's a train wreck and he's the conductor
Why would you even have Palin after she single handily destroyed McCain's shot at the presidency
Sarah Palin. The Token Woman for VP. She is often selected so the POSTUS candidate can say they are not sexist. It is a way to gain the woman vote. So Palin gets picked for Vp the same reason Clinton being pushed as POTUS. Because on the merit of being women and not much else.

Why does Palin continue to remain relevant if only in the eyes of the media?
Trump/McMahon 2016 make that happen
I'd have imagined rand paul to be in there somewhere, as a way to target young voters.
