AN DIEGO — A federal judge on Friday sentenced two former Border Patrol agents to at least 30 years in prison for running a ring that smuggled more than 500 illegal immigrants into the United States.
U.S. District Court Judge John Houston sentenced Raul Villarreal to 35 years in prison for being the ring leader and ordered him to pay a $250,000 fine. His brother, Fidel Villarreal, was sentenced to 30 years for managing the illicit business.
The sentences are among the longest given to border law enforcement officials for corruption.
Houston said he gave the severe sentences to deter other agents who have been entrusted by the American people to protect the border. The judge called their smuggling operation “disgusting” and a threat to national security.
Probably not.
I fucking hate illegal immigrants.
Good.
USBP among the US/Mexico border is bought by cartels
because all illegal immigrants who come to the US are a threat to national security and are all part of the cartels

[Cousin who works for USBP on the US/Mexico Border in Laredo TX.]
[Cousin who works for USBP on the US/Mexico Border in Laredo TX.]
because your testimonial from a (probably xenophobic) cousin is definitely evidence
because your testimonial from a (probably xenophobic) cousin is definitely evidence
A+ Assumption
[Cousin who works for USBP on the US/Mexico Border in Laredo TX.]
Anecdotal
[editline]22nd June 2013[/editline]
A+ Assumption
They're in texas and have chosen border patrol as their career path.
A+ Assumption
bringing anecdotal testimonial from a relative who joined the border patrol is not evidence in the slightest
assuming you even have a cousin in the border patrol
[Cousin who works for USBP on the US/Mexico Border in Laredo TX.]
my cousin is also in the USBP and is in fact, the head of it, and he says you're a liar
and other cousin is also a cartel leader in los zetas and says he never bribed anyone there
Newsflash: You dont get to choose where your stationed. He wanted to work in Duluth, Minnesota at the port.
Ended up in shit hole Laredo Texas

also, according to their logic, their cousin probably works for the cartels. Why are we trusting the intel on such a shady character? I posit that this person, who works for the cartels, is spreading misinformation, and therefore the cartels do NOT control border patrol.

good job this has nothing to do with the situation at all and doesnt provide us any proof about anything
dont make huge accusations about mass scale bribery without providing evidence
join the national guard and live in texas = RACIST SCUM
i think the point is if you join the border patrol in the US for the US/Mexican border, youre going to have a disposition against immigrants simply because you entered a career focused on making sure they cant enter the united states

nope still a liar, my friend in the cartel and friend as the head of USBP says no such person exists
join the national guard and live in texas = RACIST SCUM
I hate how all those racist Texans make [SUB]broad generalizations.[/SUB]
I seriously doubt all people in the national guard and on border patrol are racist. Some people just end up getting stuck with crappy jobs.
It's like how there are alot of libertarians in the military who don't support the war.

Do you think every person that joins the military wants to go to the sandbox?
The USBP is a lot larger than just US/Mexico border enforcement
I fucking hate illegal immigrants.
Why.
what if you sympathise with the immigrants, but joined to stop the cartels from pouring into the us
in that career, its your job to be suspicious of all immigrants, illegal or not, because there is a (minute) possibility they are part of the cartel
im not saying border patrol agents are racist, but it is definitely in their job description to have enough disdain of immigrants to be able to arrest them and put them back into their shithole of a country when caught because of the risk of them being part of the cartels
its not entirely far fetched that someone can know a guy who works for border patrol
yeah anecdotal evidence and all that shit but its within the boundaries of reason and not
I KNOW THE PRESIDENT LE REDDIT FUNNY MEME
who are you to say im being farfetched
just ur average sh poster trying to make a living
okay so we have worked out that im right
back on topic: those two agents were very naughty and im glad they were caught
just ur average sh poster trying to make a living
I believe the problem is identified.
wait...
2 can play at that game boyo

I don't think there's anything worse than being an SH poster

Just sayin'

I don't think you're going to get much evidence of it because that's exactly how they want it.
just sayin
Could have totally happened by accident
"I just left my truck-bed open and drove across the border and then all of the sudden mariachi music broke out and BAM Mexicans everywhere!"
Probably not.
Yes, it would be a threat to national security. Illegal immigration, while sympathizable, understandable, and an unfortunate ordeal, is a threat to national security and to the stability of a nation. Having undocumented citizens means there is no sort of quality control, and undocumented citizens have a much more difficult time getting jobs, thus poverty is increased with illegal immigration. It is a gigantic problem, and anyone saying otherwise is, plain and simple, ignorant.
That isn't to say we should vehemently fight illegal immigration by ruining the lives of people who partake, we should probably attempt to reform our immigration standards, or help other countries from sucking so much.

Grant immediate Amnesty for all undocumented immigrants
