Discussion - Would it make sense, financially, to reboot Firefly?

The original show was cancelled due to a combination of poor ratings and low revenue. Regardless of whether this was caused by corrupt producers or the episodes airing out of order, the original series failed due to financial reasons. However, the person who cancelled says that if he could, he would have never done it.
So, then. Forget that the original actors are 12-13 years older than what they were in 2002-2003 - would it make sense from a financial view to reboot Firefly? Or, to put it in another way, would a reboot of Firefly stand on its own?
Personally, I'm not sure it would. Serenity IIRC was created partially to gauge interest to such an idea and it's not-so-stellar ratings gave somewhat of a foregone conclusion. Firefly may have been a good show but the only people truly interested in a reboot are a collection of fans, and fans don't equal money. Plus, the special effect budgets would be enormous now (in Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis it cost $5000 each time someone stepped through the gate), although this could be accounted for.
The show, however, wouldn't be without ideas. Joss Whedon envisioned the show to be seven years in length, so there is plenty of spare parts.
