A teenager charged with stabbing a student in the back of the head at a school in Sydney's southwest has been spared a second night behind bars.
Police allege the teenager stabbed the 20-year-old male student during an incident in the grounds of Fairfield High School about 2.30pm (AEDT) on Friday.
The injured man was treated at the scene by paramedics before he was taken to Liverpool Hospital, where he was in a stable condition on Saturday.
Following the incident, a 17-year-old boy was questioned by police late on Friday night.
He was charged with wounding a school student and refused bail to appear in Parramatta Children's Court on Saturday.
The boy was granted bail to reappear in court on Monday
This is not right. If you are charged for (attempted) murder you are not allowed a bail out.
This is assault but since it is with a leathal weapon it counts as attempted murder.
How...How does this happen?
20-year-old high school student?
Once again the justice system fails.
20-year-old high school student?
His reason for stabbing was prolonged taunting about his failure to graduate.

The victim was 20. The stabber was 17.

Y'know, I never understood why people feel like they have to taunt and bully people because of something like that.

I'm sorry, I just don't get it.

I thought the taunter was the 20 year old.
From what I gather, if anyone here was being taunted, it was the 20 year old. Who was also, incidentally, the victim.
