• Would like to try Airsoft

So a few of my buddies fancy trying Airsoft since we heard it's the best activity around for tactically-oriented manchildren such as ourselves. Paintball was just too much of a clusterfuck. We live in the London area, and I figured FP might know a thing or two about the best places to go if you have no equipment and no experience of combat beyond glorious video games and waving pointy sticks at each other in days gone by. Also what we learned from educational videos such as Starship Troopers and Generation Kill about how best to use guns to make things that are alive into things that are dead. tl;dr - Airsoft! Where play? Also here are some guns.
Play in your back garden. and try, ebay :)
Airsoft is fun, but unless you got money to spend on a good gun, then you really aren't playing it to the fullest, if your running around with spring guns and you have to cock it after every shot then you really arent going to have much fun unless you like sniping. Also, go find a forest, those are good places
I meant like an airsoft centre or event.
Events, you should plan with your friends in a abandoned parking lot or some forest. Look online for a major airsoft event in your area.
paintball is better
looking at $150USD+ for a good airsoft gun. Because you said you are kinda weak on combat skills, I suggest you read the U.S. Army Field Manual FM 3-60.11 It covers Urban Combat Skills. Give this to your fiends and practice. And above all: practice, practice, practice. Free to view: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/policy/army/fm/3-06-11/ch3.htm
I just wanted a fun day out :ohdear:
Googling 'London Airsoft' is probably a great start.
I just wanted a fun day out :ohdear:
It's even more fun when you can obliterate the other team with your superior tatics. It just a referance tool to help.
right the gun i got was 300 euros, i spent a lot on my equipment too the cheapest way to get equipment would be to go to a surplus shop and get your shit there, make sure your guns magazines can fit in the vest if you're buying one. oh and buy a high cap magazine for your gun
I always go to nearbye forest with my friends. Startlingly, i do in fact have enough friends to have teams. Two teams. 2-a-side teams. one person is my brother. :ohdear:
looking at $150USD+ for a good airsoft gun.
Unless you're lucky. I got a real nice electric Ak-47 for 30 bucks because the store mispriced it. Turns out the correct price was around $180.
Go to the airsoft forums. There's a ton of info there and a lot of members there that will help you out. Unfortunately I can't as I'm typing this from my iPod and I have a 24 hour op starting today.
I want to do airsoft but I don't have the money. Don't say work because then I would not have time for the activity I'm working for. How else can I get money?
Your first time is guaranteed to be HORRENDOUS. Stick with it though.

Like I said, I don't want to do a job (even my dad said it's not a good idea if I want to do airsoft) because I'd have to work six days a week with no time for the sport. Any other way I can get at least $200 in a short timespan?

I have heard nothing but good things about Airsoft GI and they have a nice 10% off coupon too, that can be used with ANY purchase.
Try AirsoftMegastore or ASGI.
Get a gas gun...
Good starter brands that are low priced are JG, G&G, Dboys (specifically their AK's), some CYMA. Whatever you do, don't get a railed AK.
AIRSOFT IS SRS BUISNESS. But seriously be ready to spend money, I bought a 100$ airsoft sniper rifle came with scope and all and lets just say it makes a nice addition to my closet.
Don't buy cyma, they suck...
paintball is better
Too bad they are both entirely different. Paintballing is closer to an Arena sport than anything. Airsoft is basically combat/war simulation. Paintball costs 20 bucks for 2000 rounds, for airsoft 20 bucks gets you 14000. Anyone who decides to play the ever-so-retarded, "PAINTBALL HURTS MORE!" card makes them a Sadomasochist. If they play the, "WELL HOW CAN YOU TELL THEY'RE OUT!" card, trust me, most people call their hits in airsoft and odds are if you don't get hit in a helmet, kneepad, or chest rig, you're going to really feel it. [editline]01:45PM[/editline]
Don't buy cyma, they suck...
They actually improved the quality of their guns, they are great for beginners.
They actually improved the quality of their guns, they are great for beginners.
I just remember having them, both were terribly made plastic guns, but I guess they might have changed.
