I started this series a few months ago, and posted a few earlier, but here are the four I have so far. Feel free to check them out, they're in reverse order: Of course, I have dreams of getting this big one day, and I need to find how to do that. What do you suggest I do? Any sites I should send them to?
Too be extremely honest, try and not do the funny stuff so much, its not too good, but your actual knowledge on the games and the way you talk about them is amazing, way to many people, especially reviewers or anyone who talks about games try to act funny and usually its not too good, and they usually dont know shit about games, but you do know shit about games so stick to that, not saying cut out the funny shit completely, but focus more on the game. And the best way to get noticed is this, get some friends or people, 10 would be perfect, make a post on reddit in r/gaming and r/games and have them upvote it as soon as it goes up, those first upvotes are the most important, if you get 10 in the first few minutes your shit will almost be at the front page. Or review a Valve game, put that on r/gaming, make sure VALVE sticks out in the title, dont forget to praise it in the title, something like "Valves Amazing Game Half-Life 2:Episode 2 reviewed by me" The more words the Valve game has the more it sicks out, so do Episode 2, it will catch peoples attention, they will see Valve and Episode 2 and the word Amazing in front of it, people upvote that shit on impulse. Trust me I am an expert when it comes to r/gaming. Perfect examples. I don't know if this is even you, but if it is please, for godsakes. No more of the 'funny' scenes. Only video game stuff. That's great but the costumes and fighting the lamp in the Earthbound video, for example. That stuff is unfunny.
I watched your Pokemon Gold and Silver video and I loved it. Anyways, I'd like to chip in with some criticism. Cut the humor bullshit. Your pokemon review was great. Watching the Mother 2 video, I couldn't help but feel the intro was forced. The acting in it was sub par and really didn't fit the character that you're acting out or your personality in my opinion. Being knocked in to the lamp by the chair seemed like some kind of crappy AVGN rip off being forced in to the chair and all. I much prefer your videos when you act in character. The pokemon video was great because you came in with information on the series and what not. That's always something good to do. I also really like the use of the whiteboard, it kind of feels like you're actually teaching me something. :v: I'd love to see you using the whiteboard, playing the game, giving information on the series, showing us a bit of other games in the series, and so on. The out of place acting just kills the mood and makes me want to skip it. If you were talking about pokemon for example and all the merchandise being whored out by the series and then made a jump cut to you decked out in full pokemon apparel for a second or just writing on the whiteboard while in the apparel then I think that would be ok "humor." The pizza segment in your Mother video for example seemed really forced. I'd also recommend that you keep the red shirt with the white shirt over it as your signature look or whatever. I can understand that during the video you might swap over to some in game clothes, but as for your reviewing itself I think you should wear consistent clothing. I think the red shirt with the white shirt over it is the best. Anyways, I really do like your videos, but you just need to improve upon a few things. Mainly getting rid of the out of place humor, trying to keep a consistent outfit, and so on.
The humor kills this, it's really groan inducing. It seems really forced, and it's not entertaining since you kinda take a little too calmly when you should really be emphasizing how absurd it is and react accordingly, at least in the mother review. A lot of time the jokes just come out of nowhere and wouldn't be funny to those who have not played the game, which is a major fault if this is a "history of" segment.
Skip to 3:00 I think this is a good example of when you're doing things right. Showing us the poster with all the Pokemon is a great way to give us a quick glance at them as well as to show us some real life merchandise. The Muk comment following it was pretty good. The snippet of you raging at the gameboy I have mixed feeling about though. I'm ok with it but it was a bit dragged out. If I was you I would have cut the part with your arms flailing at the end. The beginning where he was just getting mad at the gameboy was good though. Things like these are things that I'd like to see in your videos. "Oh here's my pizza" is something I don't exactly want to see. [editline]18th July 2012[/editline] Mainly the humor or whatever you want to call it should supplement what you're talking about. It shouldn't be forced and take up time that could be spent discussing the game.
